Degree and Requirements

The student admitted to the School of Law would have to obtain a minimum number of credits out of total credits during his period of study to be eligible for the award of degree.

Promotion to Higher Semesters
  • Students shall be allowed only for 2 supplementary chances to convert the F (Fail) Grade into a P (Pass) Grade. The two chances must be availed by the student within 1 year of declaration of F Grade - 1st chance immediately after the Main exam and the 2nd chance after a semeste
  • For a core course, if the grade is not converted to a passing grade in 2 attempts, the student shall have to re- register for the course on priority whenever the course is offered by the department. Whereas for an elective course, a student cannot pass in 2 attempts may register for any other elective of his/her choice as a replacement course.
  • Students, while registering for the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th semester courses, must register for those courses of 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th semester, respectively, that he/she was unable to clear even in the two chances provided by the university.
  • Students while registering for the 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th semester courses must register for those courses of 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th semester, respectively, that he/she was unable to clear even in the two chances provided by the University
  • This shall be followed by registration for current semester courses meeting the course
  • pre-requisites and availability of slots in the timetable.
  • Students shall register for courses within the maximum credit limit.
  • Students re-registering 3rd time for a course shall be allowed to register for other courses as per the credit limit offered in the programme structure of that semester (registration with upper credit limits is not permitted in such cases).
Conduct of Supplementary Exam
  • Odd Semester: Students having backlogs, if any, shall have the option to appear in Supplementary examination scheduled concurrently with End Term Exam (T3) in December.
  • For any backlog in the End Term Exam of the current semester, students shall have the option to appear in the supplementary exam conducted in January.
  • Even Semester: Student having backlogs, if any shall have the option to appear in Supplementary examination scheduled concurrently with End Term Exam (T3) in May.
  • For any backlog in the End Term Exam of current semester student shall have the option
  • to appear in the supplementary exam conducted in July.
Internships mandated by the Bar Council of India for students at the Undergraduate Level.
  • Every student pursuing a 5-year degree programme, shall at minimum, have to intern for 20 weeks before graduating, and those pursuing a 3-year degree programme shall, at minimum, have to intern for 12 weeks as per Rule 25(b), Part IV, Rules of Legal Education 2008, Bar Council of India.
  • The internship shall only stretch in a year for upto 4 weeks as per Rule 25(b), Part IV, Rules of Legal Education 2008, Bar Council of India.
  • It is mandated by the Bar Council of India to intern at least once with the Trial and Appellate Court Advocates as per Rule 25(a), Part IV, Rules of Legal Education 2008, Bar Council of India.
  • Every student undergoing training or internship representing the School of Law, Manav Rachna University shall adhere to the dress code mentioned as per Rule 27, Part IV, Rules of Legal Education 2008, Bar Council of India.
