The physiotherapy curriculum is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of physical rehabilitation and therapy, enabling them to become proficient professionals in this area.

Upon successful completion of our physiotherapy programme, students will possess the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their professional endeavors and effectuate a constructive influence on the well-being of their patients.
Normally, a Physiotherapist working in a hospital-physiotherapy department starts with a minimum Rs. 4-5 lakhs per annum and generally has sharing income from out-patient department and from patients seen in In-patient department. As the profession is skill-oriented, so with good skill and hands, one can excel in his/her career in terms of remuneration.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is a specialty of physiotherapy science which plays a significant role in therapeutic management of orthopedic disorders, dysfunctions, trauma, surgery, joint replacement surgery, rheumatologic and degenerative disorders, amputees, handicapped, geriatric care etc. by manual therapy procedures and therapeutic exercises.
Sports Physiotherapy is a specialty of physiotherapy science that plays a major role in multidisciplinary approach in prevention, therapeutic management of musculoskeletal sports injuries. Scientific approaches of sports training, physiological conditioning, bio-mechanical and kinesiological analysis, fitness testing, sports psychology, doping, anthropometry, sports nutrition, assessment and management of injured athletes are dealt comprehensively.
Neurological Physiotherapy is a specialized physiotherapy science which plays a major role in comprehensive therapeutic management of degenerative diseases, demyelinating diseases, balance disorders, head injury, disorders of cerebral circulation, spinal injuries and fractures, pain, neuropsychological problems, developmental disorders, movement disorders, disorders of muscle tone, critical illness, neuro-surgical conditions, geriatric rehabilitation etc. with the use of various neuro-rehabilitation procedures.
Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy is a specialized physiotherapy science wherein comprehensive rehabilitation is done after cardiothoracic surgery, for respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, intensive care in respiratory and cardiac conditions, vascular surgery, pediatrics neonatal respiratory intensive care and many other conditions.
Depending on the specialty chosen and basic knowledge from undergraduate level, the students are taught a blend of subjects which help to build better in depth understanding of their specialization. Emphasis on research and biostatistics, interdisciplinary learning, pedagogy and ethics and law is given. Physiotherapeutic skills in both basic and advanced level i.e., manual therapy and rehabilitation approaches are part of the curriculum.
After passing MPT a student can pursue PhD, fellowships program and certified courses in different specialized branches to enhance their academic interest.
Clinical research is a new upcoming area in medical sciences and it is widely developing in India as seen in Western countries. Physiotherapists in India are now switching over to Evidence Based Practice which is only possible by conducting researches. As this is a growing field in medical arena, research has great scope in physiotherapy, as with more research work better techniques and skills can be developed for rehabilitation of the patients.
The MPT program in MRIIRS has been designed keeping in mind the international trends, skill and corporate requirements. The overall development of the student’s personality is the prime objective. The personal and professional development is carried through intense research and international collaboration. MPT program was started in 2005 by MREI and this year shall be the 12th year.
The course is taught by highly qualified faculties including medical doctors, surgeons, physiotherapists, scientists with all salient features of MRIIRS campus. The institute has tie-ups with 15 renowned hospitals of Delhi-NCR for clinical training and internship placements like Batra Hospital, VIMHANS, IBS, Asian Hospital, National Heart Institute, Metro Hospital etc. The institute has foreign faculty exchange programme with Lahti University of Applied Science, Lahti, Finland, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Tsukuba University, Japan etc.
The department keeps organizing regular workshops in medical and physiotherapy areas for updating knowledge of staffs and students. The department has state-of-the-art OPD facilities with a good patient load. The department focuses on evidence based practice which is carried out in well equipped labs designed for research purposes. The department focuses on complete holistic development of the students as Personality Development Programs and Inter disciplinary learning is incorporated into the curriculum. The Department is keen on providing international exposure to its students in the form of international conferences. The department hosted the international conference on recent advancement in physical therapy and Rehabilitation October 2020 & “Recent Advances and Challenges in Sports Rehabilitation” in June 2021
