Navigating Research Technology

The facilities available in the labs of ECE department are of diverse range that help navigating research and technology. The department comprises of both licensed and open-source tools to foster research and innovation. These tools are as follows:
High-Speed Integrated Circuit
VHDL

VHDL (Very High-Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) is a hardware description language used for designing digital systems.

It allows engineers to describe the behavior and structure of digital circuits, facilitating the simulation, synthesis, and verification of complex designs. The availability of VHDL in the lab empowers students and researchers to design and test digital systems, such as processors, memory modules, and communication interfaces, fostering innovation in the domain of digital hardware.

PSPICE

PSPICE is a popular circuit simulation software that enables engineers to analyze and simulate electronic circuits. It allows for the virtual testing of circuits before physical implementation, reducing development time and cost.

In the ECE lab, PSPICE can be used to analyze analog and mixed-signal circuits, verify circuit performance, and optimize designs. It aids in research by providing a platform for circuit exploration and optimization.

NS2 and Scilab
NS2 and Scilab

NS2 is an open-source network simulation tool, while Scilab is an open-source numerical computation software. These tools provide a platform for simulating and analyzing network protocols and systems. In the ECE lab, NS2 and Scilab can be used to model and evaluate communication networks, wireless systems, and routing algorithms. They facilitate research in the areas of networking, wireless communication, and protocol design.

Hardware Equipments

The ECE lab is equipped with various hardware components and kits, including LORA kits, digital trainer kits, zedboard, and learner kits for 8085 and 8086 microprocessors. These hardware tools enable students and researchers to gain hands-on experience in circuit design, microprocessor programming, and system integration.

electronic chip

They serve as a bridge between theoretical concepts and practical implementation, fostering innovation by encouraging experimentation and prototyping.

Solar cell

Major Equipment (VNA)

A vector network analyzer (VNA) is an essential tool in the field of electronics and telecommunications. It plays a significant role in fostering research and helping navigate research and technology.

A VNA enables precise measurement and characterization of electronic devices and components, such as antennas, filters, amplifiers, and transmission lines.

It provides valuable insights into their behaviour, performance, and parameters like impedance, reflection coefficient, scattering parameters (S-parameters), and insertion loss. These measurements aid researchers in understanding device performance, optimizing designs, and evaluating the impact of different factors on device behavior.

VNAs are extensively used in antenna testing and design. They provide detailed information about an antenna's radiation pattern, impedance matching, and bandwidth. Researchers can evaluate antenna performance across a range of frequencies, assess radiation efficiency, and optimize antenna design parameters. With a VNA, it becomes easier to validate theoretical antenna models, explore new antenna concepts, and improve antenna performance for specific applications.
