The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at MRU hosted an insightful alumni talk on "Tech and Beyond: Linux Kernel, GRE Preparation, and Higher Education in the USA" on 12 March 2025. This session aimed to provide valuable insights into the Linux kernel, strategies for GRE preparation, and guidance on pursuing higher education opportunities in the USA, helping students navigate their academic and professional aspirations effectively.
The alumni speaker Mr. Hardik Garg is currently working as a Software Engineer at Microsoft in Seattle, Washington, United States. He has experience as a Research Assistant at the Air-Microfluidics Group at the University of Illinois Chicago and has also worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at Ekta Flow in Chicago, Illinois
Hardik provided insights into the application process for master's and Ph.D. programs in the USA. He also discussed university selection criteria, funding opportunities, and scholarships. The session was highly informative and well-received by the audience. It provided attendees with practical knowledge and motivation to explore opportunities in technology, academic preparation, and studying abroad. The talk encouraged students to actively participate in open-source contributions, strategically plan for standardized tests, and pursue their aspirations of studying in the USA.
