Department of J & MC offers programs at UG & PG level in Journalism and Mass Communication in regular mode along with Ph.D.
At DJMC, we have industry focused syllabi to give hands on exposure to the students to match industry standards. In the age of digital media, we motivate our students to be entrepreneurs in media industry.

The programs being offered under this department are industry-oriented. Apart from the classroom lectures, the thrust is mainly given on practical aspects of functioning of media industry and therefore, become more relevant and engaging.
The students tend to learn every aspect of media, communication, designing and also the art of film making. The department has its own well equipped audio visual studio where different programs like news bulletins, panel discussions, group discussions, debates, open house sessions etc are not only organized but recorded which are mainly produced by the students.
Not only this, the students are also sent to the field to interview various celebrities, cover various events of importance. In nutshell, the students come out of the university as confident and expert in their fields. It’s mandatory for all the students to go for field project to understand nuances of the media profession.

The core faculty comprises of distinguished academicians from the best institutions and leading professionals from the Media world with rich industry experience. The faculty lays great emphasis on continuous evaluation by means of well-designed tutorials, project presentations and media lab product portfolios.
Every effort is made to reinforce the concepts taught in the classroom. The faculty members believe in use experiential learning, problem solving approach and participatory mode of teaching. Apart from teaching, the faculty members have been vigorously pursuing research and have been regularly publishing research papers in various National and International Journals of repute.
Faculty members have also attended the Refresher Courses organized by UGC and presented papers in various seminars and Conferences in leading International and national universities.
We organize Personality Development workshops to help the students to develop Soft Skills, Linguistic skills, professional values, human values, gender sensitisation and Presentation Skills. We also organize Film Festivals, International Guest lectures, Conferences and industry visits to make the students industry friendly. We also send our students to the field for reporting. Students are also participating in various programs that are conducted by Radio Manav Rachna.

Under the guidance of experienced faculty members students get placed in reputed organizations. Now, the focus of media degree is more on entrepreneurship in media industry and we mentor our students through Incubation centre.
MRIIRS has a well-organized placement cell i.e. Corporate Resource Centre which provides assistance to the students in career counseling, grooming and placements according to the interests and capabilities of the students. Also, mentoring sessions are being organized at department level for improving the employability skills of the students.
