Q1. What is the scope of Electronics & Computer Engineering?

“Electronics and Computer Engineering” is one of the fastest growing field of engineering. With the evolution of the computer age, Electronics &Computer has crept into every sphere  of human life, thus increasing its scope manifolds. Electronics is now a part of our everyday life, from pocket FM radio to televisions, computers, mobile phones and even the high-end satellites that are helping us in every path. India is amongst the fastest growing telecom market, having recently crossed the milestone of 1 billion mobile subscribers. This creates a strong opportunity for electronics & Computer engineers. An electronics and computer engineer can find a job in Consumer electronics manufacturing organization, IT industries, Health care equipment manufacturing, Mobile Computer, Internet technologies, Power Electronics, and other industries like steel, petroleum and chemical industry, directing control, IOT and testing production process. The Government of India has launched the Digital India Program with the vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy; which will enhance the field of Electronics and Computers.

Q2. What are the various courses offered by the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

 Besides  normal  B.Tech in Electronics & Computer Engineering the department is offering two new specialized courses

  • B.Tech Electronics and Computer Engineering with specialization in VLSI Design and Verification  in association with knowledge partner TrueChip
  • B.Tech Electronics and Computer Engineering Hons. (Specialization in Healthcare Technology) in association with knowledge partner Sahai Research labs

Q3. What Skills the student of ECE student will gain during Study Years:

Graduates of Electronics and Computer Engineering gain the technical skills along with the required programming skills which make them self sufficient to stand as an Electronics as well as a Computer Engineer.

They will learn the hardware concepts of the various electronic devices used in day to day life. Also, they will be versed with the programming languages required by the most eminent software industries. Electronics and Computer engineers can create, design and develop everyday devices like mobiles, computers etc. with all new novelties and advances in them.

There is a lot of scope in this field as it provides areas of expertise in communication, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Programming languages, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics etc. The students are made verse with all the latest technologies used in the design and development of all new electronics and computer products. They are also capable of getting involved in R&D activities in various areas of Specializations.

Q4. How far students are exposed to industries in Electronics and Computer Engineering

The Department has strong interaction with industries and the students are exposed to the cutting-edge technologies applied in industries by way of internships, in-plant trainings, guest lectures from corporate persons and industrial visits. Industrial visits have been organized to the industries like ST Microelectronics, Infineon, Ericsson, Truechip, KPMG, MTNL, BSNL, Mitsubishi, Moserbaer, Tricolitte etc.
In order to keep updated with the latest cutting edge technologies, MoU have been signed with Industrial organisations like True Chip, Sahai Research Labs, Srijan Sanchar, Altair, Design Tech  etc.

Q5. Why should one opt for Electronics and Computer Engineering at MRU?

Manav Rachna University is a State Private University (established by Haryana State Legislature Act No 26 of 2014 & under section 2(f) of UGC Act 1956). The University has evolved from Manav Rachna College of Engineering (MRCE, established in 2004), a NAAC Accredited ‘A’ Grade Institution ranked 10th among all the private engineering institutes of the country and 29th among all engineering institutes across the country including IITs and NITs by The Times Engineering survey (May 27th, 2016). The highlights of Electronics and Computer program at MRU are that they have a choice-based credit system, with a spectrum of elective subjects, which a student can pick and learn at one’s own pace. The emphasis of the department is on “learning by doing”. Departmental Laboratories have been strengthened and modernized by procuring state of art Equipment and latest software’s. Some of the labs worth mentioning are Altair Centre of Excellence Programming lab, PCB Design and Fabrication lab, Software Design Lab, Infosys Programming Lab, Satellite Communication Lab, Embedded Systems Lab etc.

Q6. What is the quality of faculty in the department?

The Department has distinguished faculty, with M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees from renowned institutes like IIT’s, NIT’s, Central Universities etc, most of whom are GATE/NET qualified.  The major research areas are Signal Processing &Communication, RF & Microwave Engineering, VLSI Design, Embedded systems Design, Controls & Instrumentation, Big Data, Data Mining, Hadoop, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Neural Networks, Power systems etc.

Q7. What are the career opportunities available to Electronics and Computer engineers?

As the program is designed with a focus of contributing towards the “Make in India” slogan and helping develop software enabled electronic hardware products, Electronics and Computer engineers have high caliber to find jobs with entry level packages of Rs.5.0 – Rs. 12.0 lakhs per annum. These graduates would have excellent opportunities in Public/Govt. sector organizations like BEL, BSNL, BHEL, NHPC, NTPC, DMRC, C-Dot, HAL, Airport Authority, BARC, ISRO, DRDO, NTRO, CSIR, SAMEER. Other sectors which offer job opportunities are armed forces, railways, technical universities, banking sector and state electricity boards. In the tougher times of Covid-19,the department immediately shifted to the online mode ,engaging through various platforms like Zoom, Google Classroom, MS Team. The internal and Final examination was also conducted on various online platforms

The department has state of the art, modern and well-equipped Laboratories with adequate facilities. Classrooms are fitted with the latest equipment for making presentations, lectures, debates and group discussions take place in the most convenient and enriching way. Students get all the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) support in their Smart Classrooms and are encouraged to perform as digital learners. The latest technology with Interactive Boards and Projectors is extensively used in the classroom to benefit young learners. Dimensional Structure of the Classrooms, Tutorial Rooms and Laboratories are also as per latest AICTE norms.

  • Project on Anti-Collision System in Vehicles at Railroad Crossing using RF Signal Transmission funded by Valeo – Smart Technology for Smarter Cars, Paris, France. It is also ready for PATENT filing, 2017.
  • Project on Wide Band & MultiBand Planar Antennas for Wireless Communication and Medical Applications funded by MRU, Faridabad in 2017.
  • Project on LED Patterns on Ceiling Fans in collaboration with ORIENT FANS, 2017.
