  1. Whether the B.Sc. program offered is an Honors course or general?

We offer B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics program.

 

  1. What is the eligibility requirement for the B.Sc. program?

B.Sc. (Hons) : Candidates having passed 10+2 with 50% or more marks aggregate in three Science subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics along with English.

 

  1. What is the selection criterion?

Merit preparation / short listing of candidates shall be on the basis of score in SAT/ MRNAT/ 10+2 Qualifying Examination

  1. What is the Reservation policy?

    RESERVATION OF SEATS 

Manav Rachna University presently follows the reservation policy as under:

  • NRI/Foreign National/PIO seats: 15% in all programmes/courses.
  • General Seats: 85% (25% seats are reserved for Haryana domicile students, of which 10% seats are for the SC candidates of Haryana).
  • Kashmiri Migrants: 1 seat in merit quota for the programme.

  1. What is MRNAT?

Manav Rachna National Admission Test (MRNAT). MRNAT 2019 shall be conducted by the University across various disciplines, for which syllabus would be available on the ‘Admission’ link on MRU Website. All applicants are instructed to follow the MRU website on regular basis for date of counseling and other details related to the admission process.

  1. Why MRU for B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics Programme? 
  • The curriculum is based on Choice Based Credit System as per the guidelines of UGC.
  • The course structure includes Hard, Soft, Elective and Workshop courses that work for the holistic development of the student.
  • Hard Courses: fulfills the basic requirement for the strong foundation of the course.
  • Soft courses: from language, management helps to groom the personality of the student.
  • Elective courses: provides a platform to choose courses of interest offered within and outside department.
  • Workshop: provides computational skills to the candidate. It’s totally practical based.
  • The institute has foreign faculty exchange programme with Lahti University of Applied Science, Lahti, Finland and Leeds Metropolitan University, U.K.
  • Each Mathematics course is supplemented with Lab that intensify the concepts taught in theory classes.
  • There are industry-oriented courses like Structured programming, Foreign language etc. that helps student for finding job opportunities in industry also.
  • There is compulsory summer training after 2nd and 4th semester for B.Sc.(Hons.) programme that provides a platform to apply the acquired knowledge.

  1. What kind of supervision will I receive?

The Faculty members of the department are mostly Doctorates from the premier institutes of the country. They have rich teaching experience and expertise in their research area and are actively involved in research work.

  1. Is there any Scholarship policy?

Yes, the Scholarship includes full tuition fee waiver and awarded to the students of   UG /PG Programs on the basis of marks/CGPA in the qualifying examination as per following scale, however the candidates are require to pay other fees as applicable to the programme concerned.

Conditions for Continuation of Scholarship

Students will be awarded scholarship for academic year to be reviewed after end of 2nd semester for continuation, based upon his/ her performance in the 1st and 2nd semester. For continuation of scholarship student shall be required:

  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0,
  • Minimum 75% attendance in all courses in each semester
  • Register for all courses and ear n credits for these courses as defined in curriculum scheme of programme of admission i.e. the student shall not pursue the semester in under load mode (registering lesser number of credits).
  • In addition, suitable free ship shall be available to high achievers in the field of sports, persons suffering with Thalassaemia Major, sons / daughters of Army Personnel who have been killed in war/ terrorist attack, physically handicapped students etc. on case to case basis.

Merit cum Means Scholarship 

MRU offers Scholarships based on merit cum means, to the candidates admitted under reservation for Haryana Candidates. Scheme shall be applicable to all Graduate and Post Graduate level Programs. The Scheme is applicable to all students whose parents have maximum annual income Rs. 2.80 Lacs from all sources. Under the scheme, the students shall be given fee waiver limited to the tuition fee as per the following scale. Candidates are required to pay other fee as applicable to the programme concerned.

  • One fifth of the twenty five percent shall be granted full tuition fee concession;
  • Two fifth of the twenty five percent shall be granted fifty percent fee concession;
  • The balance two fifth of the twenty five percent shall be granted twenty five percent fee concession.
  • Candidates passing out from any of the institutions of MREI and son/daughter of faculty / staff member of any of the institutions of MREI will get one time concession of Rs 5000/- at the time of admission in any of the programme being offered at Manav Rachna University.

  1. What is the fee for the B.Sc.(H) Mathematics programme?

B.Sc.(H) Mathematics –Rs 1, 06,000/.

  1. Will I get books at the time of admission?

We don’t provide books. However, we have rich library facility.

  1. What are the career options after B.Sc.(Hons.) Programme?

Mathematicians have vast opportunities in academia & industry. Student can go for teaching, Research, Higher Studies, Actuarial Sciences, MBA, Investment Manager, Research Labs, Numerical Analyst, Operations Research Analyst and Systems Analyst,Teacher, Market Researcher, Banking Sector, UPSC, Civil Services, Government Service, Space/Aircraft Industry etc.

  1. Are the hostel charges included in the tuition fee?

No, the hostel fee is mentioned separately.

  1. Can one go abroad for higher studies after graduating from MRU ?

Yes, MRU degree is as good as the one awarded by any central or state university. A Bachelor degree holder from MRU can also apply for higher studies in any of the Indian or overseas universities.

  1. What personal development / career guidance does MRU offer?

We conduct special coaching for improving the employability skills of the students. For this purpose, Manav Rachna has a Career Development Centre, which grooms the students prior to their appearing for campus/off-campus placements. Also, we have a well-organized placement cell called Corporate Resource Centre which is doing commendable job year after year. We have good rapport with a number of companies. Besides, we enjoy a very high reputation as an institution.

  1. What are the means to reach MRU from Delhi, Gurgaon and nearby places?
    MRU is situated at the picturesque Aravali Hills area of Faridabad which is well connected by road and neared Delhi Metro station is about 5 kms from the campus. MRU has its own strong fleet of 40 buses which ply all over NCR.

  1. How safe is MRU campus?

The University provides a 24-hour Security Service that operates 365 days a year. Crime is extremely low on campus and this service goes a long way to ensure it remains that way. They provide an emergency line with high priority access to the emergency services. All measures are taken to ensure the safest environment possible. The Security Office also advises students on how to prevent crime themselves. Residential and main campus areas are extremely well-lit and there are several emergency call points.

17. I need to speak to an adviser; don’t know which course to choose.
Our expert team of admission counselors is available to help you and guide you through admission process. They are available at the Counseling Centres at Block E of the campus, if you require any information on choosing the course or if you face any difficulty in filling up the application form.

  1. What is the mode of payment of fees?

Demand Draft,Cash, Paytm, Online-Transfer and Option for Credit and Debit card is also available.

  1. How many working days in a week does MRU work?

The regular curriculum classes are held from Monday to Friday.

20. What is the duration of the course? 

It is a 3 year full-time regular course (six semesters).

21.For entrance exams is there any prescribed syllabus for students?

It is based onaptitude, GK, comprehension etc.

22. Is course material provided by the University or the books are included in the fees structure?

Library facility is available, and the course material is uploaded on the intranet.

  1. Is this course recognized by any national body / council? 

Yes, by UGC.

  1. Are sufficient books available in Library? 

Yes,we have a well-stocked library with wide variety of books.

  1. Is hostel facility available for students of B.Sc.?

MRU has on campus and off campus hostel facilities for boys and girls.

M.Sc. (Mathematics)

1.Why MRU for M.Sc. Programme?

  • The curriculum is based on Choice Based Credit System as per the guidelines of UGC.
  • The course structure includes Hard, Soft, Elective and Workshop courses that work for the holistic development of the student.
  • There will be lab course in each semester.
  • The curriculum covers the syllabus of NET JRF. Moreover, courses like Wavelets, Mathematical Modelling, Cryptography; Fuzzy Sets & Fuzzy Logic adds newness to the programme.
  • There is a large variety of courses being offered in the fields of Algebra, Analysis or Applied Mathematics.
  • There is compulsory summer training after 2nd semester for M.Sc. programme that provides hands on experience on projects.

 

2.What is the eligibility requirement for the M.Sc. Mathematics program? What is the selection criterion?

  • M.Sc. – Candidates having passed in B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons) Maths with 50% or more marks in relevant subject.
  • Selection Criteria: 1st Preference: Merit in MRNAT.
  • In case of vacant seats, Merit in aggregate marks of qualifying examination would be considered (graduation).

 

3.Is the M.Sc. programme offered by MRU is in pure or applied Mathematics?

The degree is M.Sc. Mathematics. The structure of the M.Sc. program is such that the student can choose for a Pure Mathematics or Applied Mathematics courses. This is possible because of the elective component of the M.Sc. programme.

4.What kind of supervision will I receive?

The Faculty members of the department are mostly doctorates from the premier institutes of the country. They have rich teaching experience and expertise in their research area and are actively involved in research work.

5.How the M.Sc. programme offered helps in future research?

We have courses that help students to develop research acumen like research methodology, seminar and presentations where the students will be given research papers to study, research project in final semester along with summer training programmes.

Conditions for Continuation of Scholarship

Progress of students awarded scholarship for academic year in subsequent years shall be reviewed after end of 2nd semester for continuation, based upon his/her performance in the 1st and 2nd semester. For continuation of scholarship student shall be required to:

  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0.
  • Have 75% attendance in all courses (excluding education programmes) in each semester.
  • Register for all courses and earn credits for these courses as defined in curriculum scheme of programme of admission i.e. the student shall not pursue the semester in under load mode (registering lesser number of credits).
  • Applicants should not have been suspended for any grave act of indiscipline by the university.
  • No disciplinary action against the applicant is established or pending in case of raging or eve teasing.
  • The applicant should not be receiving any other scholarship from any other source whatsoever, for which a certificate signed by student & parents is to be provided.

The M.Sc. programme is designed to provide updated knowledge of mathematics and its applications in many areas. The students are also trained to develop multidisciplinary approach by carrying a research project.

  1. What are the teaching-learning approaches used?

M.Sc. program utilizes a combination of teaching and learning approaches which include lectures, practical classes, seminars, problem-based learning, group/individual assignments, and development of communication skills. Students are required to undertake research projects in the final year of the program. With this knowledge and skills, the students are able to work in their future effectively.
