Metal Protection and Catalytic Materials

Corrosion is a major problem in industries and it needs to be controlled at source. The conventionally used corrosion inhibitors have proved to be toxic and a hazard for environment. The recent research thus directs towards the synthesis, design, and development of eco-friendly materials to replace conventional toxic chemicals. Presently, various alternatives derived from natural sources are being widely explored to replace toxic corrosion inhibitors. The team is directed towards synthesis, characterization and application of advanced functional coatings for corrosion prevention and control. The other specific goal is to develop catalysts for various important processes to make them efficient and better in comparison to conventional processes by minimizing by-products, energy consumption with improved yield of desired product.
