Report of Alumni Lecture on 07-08-2021

An Alumni Lecture was hosted by the department of Chemistry, Manav Rachna University on 07, August 2021, Saturday. Two of the Department Alumni were invited for the session, Ms. Sakshi Gupta from the batch of MSc Chemistry 2017-2019, who has received excellence in her academics by clearing CSIR-NET, consequently 3 times with AIR of <50.

She is now going to join CSIR-Delhi Research lab for her PhD. In her talk she emphasized on the importance and significance of providing Internships to Master students as part of the curriculum, she also mentioned that these internships are really helpful to decide their interest, and also open the future opportunities in the corporate world, research labs etc.

she was very overwhelmed with the research exposure given to her during her MSc course in Manav Rachna University, she presented her research work in various conferences, learn to read, understand & write a publication, which ultimately helped her to reach at the point where she is now. She also guided the listeners to prepare for the CSIR-NET exam. You should prioritize the topic and study thoroughly those topics instead of studying 100% syllabus.

The other Alumni of the session was Ms. Aditi Pratap from the batch of MSc Chem 2019-2021, she is now working as “Patent Research Analyst” in Expert Lancing. In her talk she praised the initiative from the CDC and placement department. She also highlighted the importance of giving opportunity to explore in the field of research, IPR cell, Patent etc, which actually helped her to attain the position in her current Job. She also guided the listener about the patent importance, methodology etc.

The session was hosted by Dr. Jaya Tuteja, note of thanks was given by Dr. Arpit Sand, Associate Head and the session was ended with the remarks by Head of the Department Dr. S. K. Shukla. Almost 50 participants attended the session.

ALUMNI MEET “ALMASHINES”

Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Applied Sciences, MRU organized a Virtual Alumni Meet on 19th Feb, Saturday 2022 from 1 pm onwards. 12 ex students and 20 students from current batches took part in the event. The meet continued for two hours as the alumni were enjoying interacting with faculties and others. It was a time of nostalgia as the students went down memory lane and relieved their experiences of their two years on the campus. They shared their current designations, roles and how they reached that place most importantly how Manav Rachna helped them to reach that place.

Many students from our existing batches raised queries regarding their career growth and our alumni beautifully explained all to our students with guidance to reach their dream destinations. The students expressed their thanks for arranging the meet. They left feeling happy and promised to connect with each other and with the department.

Alumni Connect Program on “Guidance for Quality Education and Research in Indian and Foreign Universities” on 23rd May 2022, by the Department of Physics

An alumni connect program on “Guidance for Quality Education and Research in Indian and Foreign Universities” on 23rd May 2022 was presented by Ms. Surekha Chaudhary, an ex-student of M.Sc. Physics (2018-2020). She is presently working as PhD scholar (with stipend of 2000 USD/month) in Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) South Korea.

This talk was organized by Dr. Aditya Sharma (Assistant Professor and R&D coordinator, department of Physics), on Google Meet platform in online mode. The minutes of the meeting are as follows:

A brief introduction about the alumni speaker was given by Dr. Aditya Sharma. Presenting alumnus, Ms. Surekha Chaudhary, started her talk by explaining the importance of different fields of research and her experience after joining M. Sc. Physics program in MRU. She further elaborated the path to pursue the Ph.D. from foreign universities through her presentation. She elaborated on the importance of various concerns to be followed bearing in mind the selection of research guide, field of research as per various countries, research interests, and target country and so on. She encouraged the students to focus on their goals and constantly work upon their field of interest. She stressed that to enhance their communicative skills and prepare for TOEFL along with experimental/software skills required publishing a good research article and simultaneously grooming themselves for relevant areas of their interest.

The students of 2nd, 4th and 6th semester (total; 21 students) of Physics department attended and enjoyed the session. Students asked different questions and showed interest in this demonstrative session.

All faculties of the Applied Sciences attended this session, and the session was concluded with Vote of Thanks by Prof. D. K. Sharma, Head of Department, Department of Physics, MRU. Attached are the few snapshots of the session conducted.

Alumni Lecture Session organized on 1st August 2021 by the Department of Physics

An alumni lecture session on August 1st, 2021 was presented by Ms. Himani Saraswat, an ex-student of M.Sc. Physics (2018-2020) Department of Physics. She is presently going to join University of Iowa (USA) after completing her M. Sc. Physics from Manav Rachna University (MRU), Faridabad (Haryana). This talk was organized by Dr. Ananna Bardhan, an Assistant Professor in Physics department, on Google Meet platform in online mode. The minutes of the meeting are as follows:

A brief introduction about the alumni speaker was given by Dr. Bardhan. M.Sc. students (2018-2020), Ms. Surekha and Ms. Himani has qualified for a research internship program at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) in South Korea and published their research paper in International Nano Letters with national and international collaborations. Both of these students were good students during their academic days and they always showed interest in research activities besides academics. Besides, funding was provided by Manav Rachna University to visit South Korea for the purpose of experimentation. Both of them published 3 articles in International Journals under the guidance of Dr. Aditya Sharma. She has also attended Online Summer School organized by Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Light source (SSRL)

Presenting author, Ms. Himani will be joiningUniversity of Iowa, U.S. for pursuing Ph.D. in Physics.
