The Department of English, Faculty of Media Studies and Research organised alumni connect meet for its students.

For the event, we invited Namrata Chandila, a former student, who completed B.A. (2016-19) and M.A. (2019-2021) from the English Department.

The title of the talk was Life at Manav Rachna & Beyond. Namrata nostalgically spoke about her years in the university, sharing valuable experiences with the present students. Some of her anecdotes had the students chuckling, while later, they understood how precious those incidents were in her life. Namrata also discussed her work experience, for she had taught at two different schools.

The Department of English, School of Media Studies and Humanities, MRIIRS, organised the first Alumni Connect event of this semester on 28 September 2023. Mehak Dudeja was the guest speaker for the event. After completing her B.A. from Delhi University, Mehak obtained her M.A. in English Literature from our department. She also pursued a Ph.D. here. During the course of her doctoral journey, she was awarded the short-term doctoral fellowship from ICSSR.

Mehak Dudeja spoke about her years in the university, sharing valuable experiences with the present students. Some of her anecdotes had the students smiling, who understood, at the same time, the importance of attending classes. Most importantly, Mehak shed light on the career options students can explore after completing their tenure at the university. In particular, she talked about pursuing higher studies in MRIIRS, engaging in content writing, and examining the publication industry. The session was followed by a question-and-answer session, where Mehak took to responding to career related queries by the students. Prof. Sujata felicitated Mehak as the event concluded. A total of 27 students attended the event.

The Department of English, School of Media Studies and Humanities, MRIIRS, organised the second Alumni Connect event of this semester on 11 October 2023. Srishti Rai was the guest speaker for the event. After completing her B.A. from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Srishti is pursuing M.A. in English from the University of Delhi. She is also a digital certified content writer of WIPRO.

Srishti spoke about her years in the university, sharing valuable experiences with the present students. Some of her stories focused on the classes she enjoyed, explicitly conveying to students the importance of attending classes. She discussed in detail how to perform better in university exams and intimated to students the ways she adopted to make notes, memorise, and write good answers. Most importantly, Srishti highlighted the career options students can pursue after completing their tenure at the university. In particular, she talked about continuing higher studies in MRIIRS, engaging in reading theoretical literature, and exploring the publication industry as well as jobs related to advertisement and content writing. The session was followed by a question-and-answer session, where Srishti took to responding to career-related queries by the students. Prof. Sujata felicitated Sristhi as the event concluded. A total of 43 students attended the event.
