Clans

At the Department of Economics (DOE), School of Behavioural and Social Sciences (SBSS), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), we believe that learning transcends textbooks and classrooms. True education lies in the amalgamation of academic excellence, co-curricular engagement, and character development. With this philosophy at the core, MRIIRS proudly introduces the concept of CLANS — a unique and vibrant student engagement model aimed at nurturing leadership, collaboration, and holistic growth throughout the academic journey.

Each student in the department is assigned to one of the four distinctive clan groups: Water Sharks, Air Falcons, Forest Rhinos, and Wild Cats.

These clans are more than just groupings — they represent spirit, diversity, and camaraderie. The clan model serves as an immersive framework that encourages students to engage in inter-clan activities, participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular competitions, and develop a strong sense of identity and belonging within the department.

The Four Clans

Each clan has its own ethos, symbolism, and strengths that reflect key personality traits and values. Together, they form a microcosm of diverse capabilities and unique perspectives.

1. Water Sharks

Dynamic, strategic, and resilient — the Water Sharks represent intelligence and adaptability. Just like sharks navigate the deep and ever-changing ocean currents, members of this clan are known for their sharp minds, analytical skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Water Sharks excel in decision-making and strategy-based events and are often seen leading from the front during academic competitions and simulations.

2. Air Falcons

With an eye on the sky and a spirit that soars, the Air Falcons are visionaries, dreamers, and achievers. Agile and swift, they embody innovation, clarity, and independence. Falcons are known for their creativity and communication skills and often shine in activities like debates, presentations, and public speaking events. They bring fresh perspectives and inspire others to reach greater heights.

3. Forest Rhinos

Strong, grounded, and determined — the Forest Rhinos stand tall as symbols of strength, endurance, and teamwork. Known for their steady approach and unwavering focus, rhinos never back down from a challenge. Members of this clan excel in leadership roles, community service initiatives, and physical challenges that require persistence and grit. They are the backbone of every team effort.

4. Wild Cats

Energetic, intuitive, and bold — the Wild Cats are known for their spontaneity and fearless attitude. They thrive in dynamic environments, often taking the road less traveled. Whether it’s cultural fests, performing arts, or organizing spontaneous events, Wild Cats bring enthusiasm and zest to every activity. They embody courage and the spirit of adventure.

The clan system is not a one-time initiative but a continuous journey that begins from the student’s first day and stays with them throughout their time at DOE. Clan identities become part of the student's personal and professional development arc. As students graduate, they carry the lessons learned from their clan experiences into the world — as leaders, team players, innovators, and change-makers.

At DOE, SBSS, MRIIRS, CLANS are not just groups — they are communities of growth, platforms of transformation, and families of shared purpose. Every student contributes to the legacy of their clan while carving their own unique path. In the process, they build lasting bonds, discover their true potential, and contribute meaningfully to the vibrant culture of the department.

Together, we rise. Together, we grow. Together, we roar. Welcome to the world of CLANS!
