Civil Engineering is considered to be the most versatile branch among all the engineering branches in the country. Considered to be the mother of all the engineering branches, Civil Engineering is the oldest engineering branch in the academic institutions around the world. The Civil Engineering domain has a lot of diversity from Structural Engineering to Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resource Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Tunnel Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, etc. A Civil Engineer plays a vital role in national development works like Bridges, High - Rise Structures, Water Treatment Plants, Sewage Treatment Plants, Dams, Roadways, Railways, Airports, Ports and Harbors, Tunnels, etc. which are essential for the rapid and continuous growth of any nation.
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2009. It has built an excellent reputation not only in academics but also placement. The Department offers are: B Tech course in Civil Engineering , B Tech course in Civil Engineering (Lateral); and M Tech Course includes M. Tech in Civil Engineering (with specialization in Structural Engineering/ Construction Management & Transportation Engineering) – Full Time and Part Time and Ph.D. Keeping the pace with the present scenarios, the Department of Civil Engineering started two new specialization courses in B. Tech (Civil Engineering) from 2021 as: 1. B. Tech in Civil Engineering with specialization in Smart Cities (Hons.) and 2. B. Tech in Civil Engineering with specialization in Green Technologies and Sustainable Engineering (Hons.).
The Department of Civil Engineering has a collateral fusion of domain - experienced faculty members including Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Advance Concrete Technology and Construction Management. In the era of Inter - Disciplinary Research and Multi - Disciplinary Research, the ers are dedicated towards presenting patents and research papers on the theme of combining civil engineering with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), BioConcrete, Composite reinforced Concrete, Urban Heat Island, etc. Keeping in view point of Smart India Mission, the department also focuses on the application of software - based studies in the domain of Structural Assessment towards Seismic Excitation, Wind & Cyclonic Analysis, Non - Destructive Testing on the structures; Traffic Simulation, application of Remote Sensing and GIS under Geoinformatics and Air & Water Monitoring.
The Department of Civil Engineering always thrives to provide the best knowledge to their students, both academically and practically. The Department focused on the participation of the students in Co - curricular, Extra - curricular activities and Industrial Visits for their overall development. The faculty members focused on the holistic development of the students. The Department has both Vertical Mentoring and Class Mentoring System for proper monitoring of the students, that builds a strong connection between the students and the faculty members.The department
With the current scenarios, the placement opportunities of the civil engineering students are maximum in Government organizations such as Central Public Work Department (CPWD), Indian Railways, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Rites Limited to name a few.
