Expert Lecture on – Dietetics in The Digital Era: Challenges & Opportunities

10 January is observed as Dietetics Day. This year the theme was ‘DIETETICS IN COVID-19 WORLD – THE DIGITAL WAY’. To celebrate the occasion, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, MRIIRS organised an expert lecture on “Dietetics In The Digital Era: Challenges & Opportunities” and Healthy Cooking show by Maggi. The expert lecture was delivered by Dr Yamini Attri, Dietetics Head, SSB Multispeciality Hospital, Faridabad. She has worked with many reputed hospitals like Metro Heart Institute and Fortis escorts Faridabad over years. She spoke on numerous opportunities and challenges that Dietitians might have faced during the Covid 19 to counsel their patients.

Social distancing and new guidance to reduce risk and protect vulnerable groups, such as women during pregnancy have been key to driving forward change. Nutrition and clinical dietetics services provide evidence-based dietetic advice from the “cradle to the grave”. Hence, Digital strategies, innovation and pathways, for example using Google meet, Zoom App, Whatsapp video call and many more for consultations, or accessing webinars for information has already been planned or adopted within dietetic pathways across the world. The lecture was followed by a questionnaire round.

In addition to this, a Live cooking show on healthy Thai recipes was also organised in collaboration with Maggi. A culinary expert Ms Vini from Maggi presented live cooking of healthy Thai recipes using Maggi food products. Students and Faculty enjoyed the show and noted the recipes.

The event was organised on Google Meet App. 85 students from the department along with faculty participated in the event. The event ended with Thanks Note to both the guests by Dr Divya Sanghi (HOD), Nutrition & Dietetics, FAHS, MRIIRS.
