Report on Guest Lecture on Human Resource Management for Entrepreneurs: A leadership perspective

“Human Resources isn’t a thing we do. It’s the thing that runs our business.” -Steve Wynn.
With this thought, the School of Management & Commerce, Manav Rachna University,
conducted a guest lecture by Ms. Debjani Roy on Human Resource Management for
entrepreneurs: a leadership perspective.
The guest was welcomed by Dr. Parul Jhajharia, Dean School of Management & Commerce.
Around 90 students from Semesters 3 and 5 attended the session.
Ms. Debjani Roy is the Chief HR Advisor to Mind Your Fleet (a reputed software start-up in the
transportation space); she runs her boutique HR Solutions & Advisory firm, Wind Beneath the
Wings Venture LLP. Her consulting work involves Culture Audits, Business Restructuring,
Talent Management, Employee Experience, POSH, Leadership Essentials, DEI, and Employee
Wellness; she is a certified L&D professional and a prolific Soft Skills Trainer.
The speaker described human resource management and its importance for entrepreneurs in the
session. A leadership perspective was described instead of human resource management. Types
of leadership and qualities to be a good leader were explained in detail with their practical
applications.
The speaker focused their discussion more on the practical knowledge of the students rather than
theoretical knowledge. At the same time, there was a good response recorded from the students
as they were inquisitive to know more about leadership skills and the importance of human
resource management in entrepreneurship. The session was inspirational for us and also helped
us to apply these learnings in our day-to-day life.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Yogita Sharma, Associate Professor, SMC & Co-ordinator
Entrepreneurship, Incubation, & Start-up.
