Dr Shilpi Jha is an Academician, Journalist, Trainer and Author with 24 years of experience in media industry and academia. She started her career with Aaj Tak as part of the channel’s launch team and worked for Aaj Tak and its English counterpart, India Today TV as business correspondent for over 5 years. Later she shifted to the USA to work with Voice of America as International Broadcaster with their Hindi Service in Washington DC. Upon her return to India she shifted to academia.
Before joining MRIIRS, she was working with DY Patil International University in Pune as Professor and Director, School of Media and Journalism and was also heading the PoSH Committee. Her prior work experiences include Times School of Media, Bennett University and School of Communication, GD Goenka University.
Over the years she has received several international grants for her research and consultancy in Media Literacy and Social Media Platform Accountability including the first Platform Impact Fund from Facebook and Project Agora by Internews.
She has been a member of Google News Initiative, India Training Network since its inception in India in 2018 and is a certified trainer on Fact Checking and Digital Media Literacy training over 1500 journalists and journalism students across the country.
She is an alumna of Manav Rachna International University where she earned her PhD in Media Economics in 2014.
She is a passionate reader and avid traveler and writes fiction in Hindi in her free time.
