After a career spanning over two decades in journalism, Ms Mitali Mohanty Ghosh has transitioned to academia, bringing a wealth of experience and insight to her role as an educator. Currently, a faculty member with the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at MRIIRS, Mitali had been a PIB accredited journalist with one of India’s national news agencies, United News of India. Initially she worked on the desk, where she learnt the ropes of editing, writing and re-writing news stories. She later moved to the News Bureau, and reported extensively on the social sector, city, ministries, political parties and Parliament beats. She also covered elections in Delhi, Gujarat and Odisha.
She has also worked with Indian Institute of Mass Communication as an academic associate/coordinator where she taught Print media paper in the Radio and Television Journalism department and handled the production of lab journals. As a placement coordinator at the Institute, she was in charge of placements for all centres of IIMC for two years and coordinated with companies/organisations for campus placements processes.
She holds two Masters degrees in Sociology from the University of Hyderabad and in Mass Communication from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. She also holds a PG Diploma in Journalism from Indian Institute of Mass Communication and is currently pursuing her PhD at MRIIRS.
Her interests include media practices and trends, political communication and development communication.
