Master of Computer Applications is a Post Graduate degree program in the field of Computer Science and Application. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive education in the theory, principles and application of computer science and related technologies. The program is aimed at promoting the application development & management skills to enable students to become employable and skilled professional or entrepreneur. The program is approved by AICTE and UGC.

Criteria for Preparation of Merit list

Merit preparation/shortlisting of candidates shall be on the basis of score in MRNAT/ Marks in Qualifying Examination.

Eligibility Criteria

For 2-Year programme: 50% marks or equivalent CGPA either in BCA/Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engg. or equivalent degree or in B.Sc./B.Com/B.A with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduation level (with additional Bridge courses as per the norms of concerned University)

For 1-Year programme: 50% marks or equivalent CGPA either in 4-Year BCA/Bachelor Degree with Hons./Hons. with Research in any discipline from a recognized University in Computer Science Engg. or equivalent degree or in B.Sc./B.Com/B.A with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduation level (with additional Bridge courses as per the norms of concerned University)

Programme Highlights

The MCA program takes two years to complete and includes courses in programming languages,

database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, computer networks,

web technologies and other related fields. In addition to this,

the program offers in-demand skills such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cyber Security,

Data Science and Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, IoT, Blockchain, Full Stack Development,

DevOps, Mobile Computing, Computer Networking, Multimedia and Gaming with AR &VR.

The MCA program also provides opportunities for students to undertake research and development projects,

internships and industrial training to gain practical experience in their field of study. The program curriculum includes lectures, lab sessions,

seminars, projects and internships to provide the students with hands-n experience an exposure to latest technologies.

MCA degree holders can join industry with/on a profile of Software Developer, Software Engineer, Software Tester, Graphic Designer, Animator, Web Developer, Data Base Administrator, IT project manager, AI Engineer, Business Analyst, Data Scientist etc. Students can apply in other technical profile demanded by the Private, Public and Govt. sector after completing his/her MCA degree. They can also choose to pursue further studies such as a Ph.D. in Computer Science.

The faculty members of Department of Computer Applications are highly qualified and comprises of distinguished academicians from the best institutions. The faculty lays great emphasis on continuous evaluation by means of well-designed tutorials and practical sessions; every effort is made to reinforce the concepts taught in the classroom.

Apart from teaching, the faculty members have been vigorously pursuing research and have been regularly publishing research papers in various National and International journals of repute as well as in prestigious conferences. The best of the ICT methods are used for effective teaching. The faculty members of FCA are also associated with various renowned professional bodies such as CSI, ACM and IEEE.

In FCA, special personality development classes are being conducted for the holistic development of students. The curriculum of these classes covers – Soft skills, Aptitude, Verbal Reasoning, Resume Writing, Interviewing Skills and Presentation Skills. Trained faculties from Career Development Cell (CDC) are being deputed to conduct these classes in each semester for each of the programmes. Moreover, we offer courses of Employability Enhancement where students learn to develop and execute innovative ideas to enhance their skills.

We have a well-equipped central placement cell called Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) which is doing commendable job year after year. All the big corporate brands do come in Manav Rachna to hire our students. FCA conducts special coaching for improving the employability skills of the students. To provide all essential information related to recruitment process to each eligible student, the department has two Training and Placement Officers (TPO) who work as liaison between students and the central placement cell. Department also have collaboration with various IT industries in order to provide Internships and vocational trainings to the students.

Most of our UG students prefer to go for higher studies and competitive exams after their graduation. However, more than 80% of the eligible UG & PG students are placed through campus placement drive.

We organize Expert Lectures and Workshops for the students and faculty members in which various renowned resource persons from IITs and IT industry are being invited in order to enhance the skills required as per the latest demand of the industry.

For admission in MCA program, a candidate must have mathematics at 10+2 level or in graduation.
