Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Manav Rachna University (MRU), Faridabad, organized a one-day visit to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Lodhi Road, New Delhi. A group of 15 students from B.Sc. Chemistry (Hons.) along with faculty coordinator Ms. Meena Kapahi visited different labs of IMD.
The students visited Central Hydro Met Observatory and got an exposure to the daily measurements of ambient temperature, soil temperature, wind velocity, directions and rainfall.
Students then visited National Centre for Satellite Meteorology and learnt about satellite communication and its role in weather monitoring and reporting in India. The students visited National Weather Forecasting Center, where they were briefed about the weather forecasting, the mechanism behind and its importance.
