‘Technology Intervention for Management of Saline and Polluted Aquifier’ Workshop conducted at MRIU

Centre for Advanced Water Technology and Management, Manav Rachna International University organized a one day workshop on ‘Technology Intervention for Management of Saline and Polluted Aquifier’. Water resources are getting depleted day by day and the reason can primarily be attributed to the high demand for water due to rapid industrialization and technological development, over-exploitation of ground water, dumping of different pollutants in water bodies and bad water management. Saline ground water remains unexploited in many areas of Haryana and Rajasthan causing water logging. The ground water abstraction regulatory measures do not permit the industries to exploit ground water which have already been categorized as critical and over exploited.

Considering the various difficulties to secure fresh water, workshop focused on areas like Latest Innovative Technology in Waste Water Treatment, need and evaluation of Technology, In-situ Technology Insight and case study of In-situ purification Pilot Project. Dr. Sarita Sachdeva, Dean Research, MRIU; Dr. D.K. Chadha, Chair Professor and Chairman, Centre for Advanced Water Technology and Management; Mr. Prathemesh Barar; Mr. Aman Kishore; Mr. B.R. Bhatia and Dr. Chris Barber, Crisalis International Pvt. Ltd., Darlington, Australia were the key note speakers in the workshop. Dr. Chris Barber, a renowned hydro geologist, shared his expert views and showcased his technology intervention which would purify the saline and polluted water, suitable for human consumption.  He further added that he wants to involve the university and its students in research and technology which would give them an exposure to real life situations enhancing their enthusiasm. Industries also took a keen interest in the technology as at present, the only option available with them is to develop saline ground water wherever situated.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and Chair Person said, “In order to carry forward the legacy of our Founder Visionary, Dr. O.P. Bhalla, we as a institution are well connected and committed towards building a healthy society. The principle purpose of this Technology Intervention is to enhance the management of water resources for developing a sustainable future.”

MRIU concluded the workshop with the interactive session on Technology application to augment water resource, emphasizing on the fact that water crises can be successfully controlled with the use of right technology.

Now you can be water secured !!
