Poetry Recitation Competition at FMeH, MRIU

Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities, Department of English organized a Poetry Recitation Competition ‘Expressing in Verse’ . The objective of the recitation competition was to encourage students to write and to explore their potential for writing. The Competition was open to all undergraduate students of MRIU. The event was graced by Hon’ble V.C. Mr. N.C. Wadhwa along with the guests and judges of the event-Mrs. Promilla Qazi- a poet and a writer, and the founders of a poetic club Shadows on Paper; Mr. Nirmesh and Ms. Ritu- who impressed audiences with their verses.

More than 25 students across faculties participated. During the competition the participants presented their poems in Hindi, English and Punjabi. They focused on the trends and traditions of society and a keen need for  change. Few of them focused on the moral values and the need for a better relationship to maintain peace and prosperity in society. Maryam (MRDC), Mittali (B.A.Eng Hons. Sem VI) with Pramit (BJMC, Sem IV), and Megha (B.A.Eng Hons. Sem IV) bagged the first, second and the third prizes.

Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities, Department of English, focuses on such innovative and creative literary activities for the overall development of the students.
