Orientation Programme for Second and Third year students

An induction programme is the right way to bring back the students to the college mood after a month-long break. The first day commenced with a session by Prof. Sushmita Ray, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Technology (CST), MRU. She discussed about the importance and scope of  mini projects. Another session on design thinking and importance of Digital Transformation was conducted by Mr. Ram Chatterjee, Assistant Prof., CST.

Nishith Yadav, Alumnus, MRU (B.Tech- Batch 2016) also interacted with the students. Presently, he is working with Deloitte and his business domains include Risk Advisory and Cyber security. He shared information about cyber security, cyber laws, and how students can practice the same in day-to-day life. He also shared his journey from MRU (Formerly MRCE) to Deloitte.

A very interesting session was conducted by Ms. Shailja, Assistant Prof. CST where she introduced “Prezi Tool” to the students. The day ended with a movie watch. “Karate Kids“. Karate Kid is the story of a kid who learned martial art from the mentor.

The second day for second year students comprised industrial talks by Mr. Nagesh Marwa, Group Chief Happiness Officer & Executive Director- HR Krishna Maruti Group, Gurugram. He acquainted the students with the life after schools and how they should keep their focus on their target. This was followed by an expert talk by Prof Jai Bhatnagar, Head Research Cluster of Computing, Department of CST, MRU. He said that dedication, expertise and perfection leads to success. He discussed the importance of research in engineering domain and also encouraged students to come forward and join Research Cluster Lab where they can gain hands-on experience on new technologies.

Third year students had an opportunity to know about SWAYAM – NPTEL Local Chapter which has been announced as an “Active Local Chapter” for Jan-April, 2018.  During the session, achievements of Jan-April, 2018 course was discussed, and a total of 384 students from our university enrolled for the various courses. The good number of students and professors received highly privileged Elite Gold, Elite and Successfully completed certificates. This was followed by an expert talk on Data Science and Machine Learning (DSML) by Prof. Mrinal Pandey, Associate Professor, MRU. She discussed about the career prospects of DSML in India and abroad. She also discussed the relationship among Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.  The students were encouraged to create a GitHub account. Visit to Sports Arena was the last activity of the day where students actively participate in all games like Table Tennis, Badminton, and Billiards.
