National Level Debate – Anti Ragging : 7th August 2015

Proctorial Board  and Department of Students Welfare  of MRIU organized a National Debate on Anti-Ragging.

The event was graced by Sh. Subhash Yadav, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Faridabad; Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor-MRIU; Dr. R. K. Khar, Principal-BSA Institute of Pharmacy Faridabad; Dr. Chavi B Sharma, Dean FMS;Professor D. S. Gotra, Proctor-MRIU; Professor I.K. Kilam, Dean, Students Welfare-MRIU; among others senior dignitaries and faculty members. Nearly 300 students and 100 faculty members from different faculties of MRIU participated in this programme. Through this Seminar Students were sensitized about ill effect & ragging and were made aware about the anti ragging cell and related rules at MRIU Campus arrangements in MRIU.

In his welcome address, Prof. D.S. Gotra brought briefly the background regarding the direction of Honarable Supreme Court on Ragging to UGC, and UGC regulation called the curbing of Ragging in the higher educational institution and anti ragging arrangements in MRIU. He also informed the gathering about Manav Rachna’s anti ragging committees, squads, monitoring cells and CCTV coverage of ragging prone zones.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Shri Subhash Yadav cited relevant cases of students whose lives went awry due to ragging. He advised Students to focus on academic development and not to indulge in any misbehaving & ragging of other students

Guest Speaker Dr R.K. Khar, praised the University for providing a platform for discussion on Anti Ragging Campaign. He dwelled at length the various strength to prevent and prohibit Ragging in the campus .Dr N.C. Wadhwa stressed that the student should not induldge in Ragging as that is punishable offence. He also addressed to students particularly freshers that in case they face any problem, they should discuss with their HODs/Deans and if the problem still remains they scould walk in to his office chamber without fear. He also encouraged students to take up their problems with their HODs, mentors or deans and invited them to walk into his office should they seek his counsel.

Two Students also shared their views on ragging.

Nukkad natak called ‘Ragging ek Apradh’ was also staged  by the students bringing out the evils of ragging all the more.

Professor I.K. Kilam concluded the event by proposing a formal vote of thanks, for one & all who supported in making this event a success.
