Model United Nations Conference

MRU conducted its first Intra College Model United Conference on September 26, 2019. This is a concept encouraged by the UN itself. It was a full day conference organized by Department of Student Welfare MRU. Students from MRU, MRIIRS and MRDC were invited to participate.

Preparing for, and participating in, a Model UN conference can help students and young people develop leadership skills as well as research, writing, public speaking and problem-solving skills. The imperative of devising solutions that are acceptable to a majority of the state’s present engenders skills of negotiation, conflict resolution and cooperation.

The committee seated for the day was UNGA-DISEC. The Agenda for the conference was Use of Artificial Intelligence and Drones in areas of armed conflict. Every participant was allotted his or her respective countries beforehand. A workshop to prepare students and to familiarize them with the ROPs and the Human Rights Charter was also conducted prior to the event on September 20, 2019.
