KKFI and Ultimate KhoKho introduces first-ever scientific training for players at the Manav Rachna campus

The KhoKho Federation of India (KKFI) along with Ultimate KhoKho (UKK) is all set to uplift the skillset of its players with the introduction of a revolutionary High Performance Assessment and Scientific Analysis & Evaluation Program “Rise in Sports Excellence”- for the very first time.

During the rigorous camp of almost a month, starting from January 16 to February 16, 73 players are being trained and monitored by vastly experienced experts at the Manav Rachna Sports Science Center.

The Union Sports Minister KirenRijiju along with Rajeev Mehta, General Secretary, Indian Olympics Association and popular sporting personalities like Sushil Kumar (only Indian to win consecutive Olympic medals), top cricketers Suresh Raina and Mohammed Shamiand Dr. AmitBhalla, Vice President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions were present to inaugurate the coaching camp, where KhoKho players have been selected from across the country.

The state of art expertise of Manav Rachna Sports Science Centre has been roped in to roll out this mammoth initiative.

I have always believed sports science is the future of sports. To make India a sporting powerhouse, each sports needs to be developed, especially indigenous sports like KhoKho which is a speed-reliant sport. The Federation, Ultimate KhoKho and Manav Rachna have done a commendable job in putting together such an exhaustive plan in such a short time”, said the Sports Minister Rijiju.

The 28-day camp will see players being monitored and analysed. The findings and parameters ranging from sports physiotherapy, rehabilitation, injury management, biomechanics, biokinetics, sports performance analysis, nutritional guidance, and posture corrections will be put into action. The training will also mark the resumption of the sport after almost a 10-month gap. This training is compartmentalized in three phases- transition, preparatory and competitive one.

An exhibition match was played where sports celebrities were teamed up with the KhoKho players as the team rolled pout the fast-paced format which played under the revamped rules that are to be introduced during the KhoKho league, stated for end of the year. The culmination of the camp will see players participating in a five-day tournament consisting of eight teams divided into two pools where players’ speed and game play will also be tested along with agility and strength conditionings.

The Hon’ble Union Minister for Sports Sh. KirenRijiju also inaugurated a first-of its kind 25 mtr and 50 mtr convertible shooting range at the Manav Rachna campus today. This is among the most advanced shooting facility not available anywhere across Delhi NCR.

The range is both electronic and manual with 10 lanes each. Equipped with SUIS ASCOR electronic targets and 0.22 weapons, the range is open for all (including beginners).
