Invited Lecture on “Polyolefins-An Overview”

An Invited lecture on Polyolefines (Polyethylene/Polypropylene) – An Overview was recently organized by the Department of chemistry. Dr.G.S.Kapur,Chief General Manager(I/c) Chemical Technology, Indian Oil R&D Centre,  Faridabad delivered the lecture, which was attended by the students of B.Sc(H), M.Sc (Chemistry), and the Faculty members of applied sciences.

Dr Kapur is a recipient of several International and National Awards and has 80 patents and about 185 research publications to his credit.Presently he is heading the R&D activities of Petrochemicals, Polymers, Nanotechnology,Alternative Energy and Analytical Research at Indian Oil R&D Centre, Faridabad.

He talked on the merits and demerits of bio-plastics and remediation measures of plastics in protecting the environment. He also talked on growth drivers and challenges faced in the usage of plastics in day-to-day activities and various electronic and other gadgets. He concluded his talk by suggesting the proper usage and then safe disposal of plastics for recycling.

The lecture was very informative and valuable to the students as well as faculty. At the end, Dr.A.K.Gupta concluded the programme with a vote of thanks.
