Haryana Environment Protection Foundation to implement NGT mandate in Haryana with special measures to protect and conserve environment

Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, Faridabad and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Research Institute, New Delhi have jointly constituted the Haryana Environment Protection Foundation (HEPF) to implement the mandate of National Green Tribunal in the State of Haryana for special measures to protect and conserve environment with a sustainable approach. HEPF has been constituted on the active initiative of the Haryana Government. 

The objective of this Foundation is to undertake time bound initiatives for protection of environment at the State level and float Regional Chapters at each District level to effectively drive the initiative. District Faridabad has been chosen as a Model District for launching the Pilot Project to implement the National mandate.

In a think tank meeting comprising environmentalists, thought leaders, business owners, representatives from NGOs and RWAs; the Faridabad Environment Protection Chapter (FEPC) was instituted today.

The first meeting of HEPF organized today at the ManavRachna campus waschaired by Sh. Gopal Arya, National Coordinator of Environment Protection, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Research Institute& Patron of HEPF. Also present were Mr. Vikram Yadav (IAS), Addl. Commissioner, MCF; Dr. Krishan Kumar, District Convener, RSS; Mr. Sumit, OSD to CM; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI; Mr. Ganga Shankar Mishra; Mr. Raj Kumar Aggarwal; Mr. Rajeev Chawla; Dr. Arvind Sood; Mr. Pushpender Chauhan; Mr. Amitabh Vashishtha, GM- DeenDayal Research Institute; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI; Dr. N C Wadhwa, DG-MREI;and several other thought leaders who have been working towards the protection of various aspects of environment.

The aims and objectives of the Haryana Environment Protection Foundation, its Perspective Plan and strategy for the implementation of Action Plan were shared in the meeting. Several action areas for the protection and conservation of environment were deliberated upon. Some suggestions and collaborative work areas identified are:

  • Revival of Badkhal Lake and its current scenario
  • Special bank loan policies for industries that support green technology
  • Sensitization programs for motivating the youth to become Eco-Sensitive Citizen
  • Programs for Urban and Rural areas, involving people in Cleaning & Greening of Faridabad
  • Mapping of Water bodies like Ponds, Lakes and road map for their reclamation and revival
  •  

Sh. Gopal Arya in his address mentioned this as a unique opportunity to establish Faridabad as a Model District and contribute in creating historical achievements that shall be remembered by the future generations. A widespread awareness campaign at three levels: individual, professional and public level was advocated as the solution towards creating an environmentally conscious generation.
