Guest Lecture on ‘Writing Copies in Advertising’ by Mr Mohit Pasricha

A guest lecture was organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, FMeH, MRIIRS on “Writing Copies in Advertising” recently. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Mohit Pasricha, Creative Team Leader, McCann World Wide. Mr Pasricha eloquently described the art of storytelling as a guiding force behind writing copies for advertising.

He apprised the students that ads are a narration of stories derived out of our surroundings and are reminiscence of past experiences. “Maximum communication in minimum words is the hallmark of writing an advertising copy”, he explained. Mr. Pasricha also explained that a copy should be contextual, relevant and odd which is not weird but unique. He also discussed the writing styles of advertising copy used in different media and stressed on the fact that print is the mother of all communication and to be a successful creative person one has to start his/her professional journey in writing for print ads.

The session was full of interesting anecdotes from the advertising industry. Mr Pasricha enthralled the students by giving interesting insights into the making of various ads.
