Guest Lecture on ‘Research Methodology: Major Conceptual Concerns’

A guest lecture was organized by the Department of English, FMeH, MRIIRS recently. The lecture was delivered on a very relevant topic ‘Research Methodology: Major Conceptual Concerns’ by Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Dwivedi, Associate Professor, Department of English, Delhi Technological University. Dr. Rajiv Ranjan has a vast experience of more than 15 years of teaching in national and international universities of repute. Earlier, Dr. Rajiv was associated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi as an Assistant Professor of English in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Dr. Rajiv has published a number of research papers in national and international journals of repute and has participated and presented papers in conferences across the globe including the one presented at Oxford University, U.K. in 2016, Amsterdam, Netherland in 2017 and Harvard University, Boston, USA in 2019. Dr. Dwivedi is an honourable member of Editorial Board of SHE Journal (Social Science, Humanities and Education), Universitas, PGRI Madiun, and Republic of Indonesia.

Dr. Dwivedi has passionate flairs for creative writing as well and he has published four collections of Hindi Poetry, namely, Mukt Chhand, Dahleez ke Bahar, Dasham Ras and the most recently published “Nirbandh Kalam”.

Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Dwivedi was introduced by Dr. Jayashree Hazarika, Assistant Professor, Department of English, to the undergraduate and postgraduate students of English literature. During his lecture, Dr. Rajiv Ranjan enlightened the students about major concepts of Research Methodology. He spoke on the relevance of research methodology. He elaborated the covert and overt aspects of conducting research where the overt aspect involves critical and creative thinking. He also emphasized that without critical analysis, research cannot be hailed as appropriate creative and vice versa. Therefore, creativity juxtaposes critical research.

Overall, the lecture was a refreshing tryst of research methodology with the critical areas of English literature for the curious and enthusiastic students of both B.A. (Hons), M.A. English and Ph. D scholars. The students were inquisitive and raised many queries, which were answered by the guest in a very pleasant and interesting manner.
