Guest Lecture on Food Safety

Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Applied Sciences conducted a guest lecture on ‘Food Safety’ by Mr. Jasjit Singh Sindhu.  

Mr. Sandhu is Ex-Deputy Director CSIR CFTRI Mysuru, Ex Technical Director FICCI Research Analysis Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi.

The lecture was based on food safety issues and methods to prevent food spoilage and foodborne diseases.

During the lecture, Mr. Sandhu emphasized the role of food storage techniques in relation to temperature. He told students about the deal temperatures at which food can be stored and consumed without arising the foodborne diseases.

He also talked about food allergens, their types, and side effects that affect human health.  The lecture also included the alarming issue of the use of plastic in food storage and its inclusion in the food chain even after its disposal.

Mr. Sandhu also interacted with students for their knowledge of traditional VS modern methods in food service management. Overall, the lecture was beneficial for students of Nutrition and Dietetics in terms of food safety practices and its utilization in improving the quality of health and life.
