Four-Day All India Inter University Shooting Championship drew to a grand close

All India Inter University Shooting Championship held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range from November 12-15, 2019 came to a grand conclusion today. 1500 shooters from 150 universities across the country participated in 22 different events during this four-day championship.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony held in the benign presence of Smt. Putul Kumari, Former Member of Parliament; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI); Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD-MREI and VC- Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS); Mr. Peter Wilson, Olympic Gold Medalist- Double Trap (2012); Mr. Rajiv Bhatia, Secretary, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI); Mr. Baljeet Singh Sethi, Former Secretary General, NRAI;  Mr. Deepak Mani, Association of Indian Universities (AIU)- Observer; Mr. Ronjan Sodhi, Arjuna Awardee and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee.

The ceremony commenced with a beautiful cultural dance performance by Manav Rachna students.

Dr. Sanjay Srivastava shared that this is the first time AIU has chosen a private university (MRIIRS) to host and organize this prestigious annual competition. For the very first time, the championship has been held with electronic targets in an International standard range to give a true-blue international feel to university students.

Mr. Peter Wilson congratulated shooters and motivated them with his graceful words, “I urge you to push yourself to the absolute pinnacle. Hard work is the only route to success”. He was also appreciative of the facilities provided to the shooters during the championship and the Olympic level Shooting Range at MRIIRS.

The Overall Champions Trophy was bagged by Panjab University, Chandigarh.
