Faculty Development Program on HVAC

The FDP started with the session on ‘Rationalized Chiller Selection by Thermal Energy Storage’ by Mr. Sunil Kher, MD Sevcon. He graduated from REC Kurukshetra, with specialization in RAC. Presently he is serving in ISHRAE finance committee at HQ level.

He discussed about the fundamentals of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) and shared with the participants how energy efficient system can be installed to reduce the carbon footprints. He explained that TES can enable the consumers to shear off the peak load by ice making during low load condition thereby utilizing the differential tariff system.

Mr. Sourav Dhara, sales manager, Sevcon India told the participant about schematic of series and parallel TES enabled chiller system.

The second session was started by Dr. A.K Ahluwalia who is presently working as Principal G N D Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He has more than 25 years of teaching experience and is also certified BEE auditor. He delivered talk on evaporative cooling system and ducting design where he explained the advantages of evaporative cooling systems and its types. He emphasized on energy saving by use of evaporative cooling systems as compared to refrigerating and air conditioning systems.
