Culinary Cooking Competition & Demonstration By Hotel Marriott Chef – Amit Kumar

Students from the Department of Hotel Management donned their ‘Chef Caps’ to exhibit their culinary skills in ‘Cooking Competition’ that was held on March 18, 2019. There were 11 teams who participated in the event and were expected to use their acumen for cooking along with a sense of creativity to prepare the dishes.

The prime objective of the competition was to offer professional platform to students where they can display their individual and combined skills, creative talent and get opportunity to learn, and share experience in competitive environment

Food items displayed were a visual treat and were presented in an artistic and aesthetic style. Dishes were judged on the basis of creativity, hygiene, taste, texture and appearance by esteemed judges Mr. Amit Kumar (Sous Chef at Marriott), Ms. Jyoti Jawa (Training Manager at Marriott) and Ms. Aparna (Sales manager at Marriott ). They interacted with the budding chefs to find out the ingredients of the recipes, nutritional value and historical significance of the dishes prepared by them.

Judges were overwhelmed by the efforts of the participants. Team 4 (Sandharvh Ranjan and Aman Kukreja) and Team 6 ( Uday And Vipin Verma) won the competition and now will be participating in the Marriott Annual Culinary Workshop which is on April 11, 2019. They will face the competition with all the chefs from Marriott, food bloggers and students from various universities. Towards the end of the event chocolate muffins were distributed among the students which were brought by the Judges.

The event has provided a platform for the students to foster their creativity and decision making skills and helped them to explore their hidden talents and discover new dishes.
