Radiation Safety Awareness Drive – International Day of Radiology 2023

In observance of the International Day of Radiology (IDoR), the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology at Manav Rachna Dental College and Hospital organized a significant event on November 8, 2023. The occasion not only honored the annual acknowledgment of the crucial role played by medical imaging in contemporary healthcare but also commemorated the historic discovery of X-rays by Sir Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen on November 8, 1895.

The central focus of this academic gathering was an expert lecture delivered by Dr. Sushant, a distinguished figure in Radiology and Senior Resident at the Department of Radiation Oncology at AIIMS, New Delhi. Dr. Sumit Bhateja, Head of the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, along with Dr. Pankaj Dhawan and Dr. Dax Abhraham, extended a warm welcome and felicitation to our guest speaker, Dr. Sushant.

Dr. Sushant’s discourse unfolded in a scholarly manner, delving into the “Radiation Safety Awareness Drive.” With 119 discerning participants, including 21 esteemed faculty members and 98 diligent students, attendees learned about the deleterious effects of radiation on the human body. Dr. Sushant’s erudition extended to an in-depth examination of radiation-safe practices within dental offices, emphasizing the imperative of stringent safety protocols to safeguard both patients and healthcare practitioners.

The lecture, characterized by its scientific rigor, not only served as an intellectual repository but also catalyzed a robust exchange of ideas, instilling a renewed commitment to prioritizing safety within the domain of radiology.

As the event reached its conclusion, Dr. Sumit Bhateja assumed the podium, underscoring the enduring significance of implementing safe radiology practices in dental offices. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Sushant for disseminating his scholarly insights and knowledge and to the attendees for their active and engaged participation.

In a denouement befitting the academic gravity, Dr. Bhateja delivered a formal expression of thanks, acknowledging the collective endeavor that culminated in a successful Radiation Safety Awareness Drive on the International Day of Radiology 2023.
