National Science Day Celebrations at FAS, MRIU

MRIU has always been insightful in providing Faculties and students alike the latest and up to date knowledge on important and relevant topics in science. Keeping this dictum in mind, FAS celebrated the National Science Day under the common vision of University Grant Commission (UGC) and Department of Science & Technology (DST) with the theme Science and Technology for Specially Abled Persons ‘Ability beyond Limits’. The event was attended by specially abled children from NGOs like Prabhat and Association for welfare of Handicapped.
The event was graced by Dr. N C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU; Dr. G L Khanna, Dean FAS, MRIU; and speakers for the day, Dr. Bhupinder S. Gill, Director, Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Centre; Dr. Vandana Phadke, a doctorate from University of Minnesota, USA in the field of rehabilitation sciences and currently working as a senior clinical research associate at Indian Spinal Injuries Center, New Delhi; Dr. Vikram Sharma, a pioneer in the field of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine from Fortis Hospital, Jaipur; Dr. Pooja Anand, HOD, Physiotherapy, MRIU and Dr. Suparna Tandon.
There was a Panel discussion which emphasized on the policy amendments to be undertaken to make the environment more disabled friendly.
Mr. Nekram Upadhayay, Head of the first ever Deptt. of Assistive Technology at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre and a Ford Foundation Scholar discussed the role of assistive technology and its provisions and services in India.
The highlight of the event was a poignant performance by the specially abled children which left the audience emotionally touched. They were suitably appreciated with a token of love and appreciation.
