NABH POI training at Manav Rachna Dental College 

A persistent and relentless attitude toward quality healthcare delivery has always been the mission of Manav Rachna Dental College. Every aspect of healthcare service delivery and hard work has earned us the NAAC A++ Accreditation. Taking a step further in quality education and healthcare services, we now aim for NABH Accreditation. Therefore, our management gave us the opportunity to attend a two-day training program on the implementation of NABH Dental Healthcare Service.

The training program commenced on July 15th, 2023, in the presence of Dr. Puneet Batra, Principal MRDC, MRIIRS. He briefed the participants about the need for the training program, its purpose, and the detailed schedule, along with introducing the speakers to the delegates. The speakers of the day were Dr. Manu Rathi, Professor and Head, Department of Prosthodontics, PGIDS Rohtak, and Dr. Himanshu Aeren, Director, Principal Seema Dental College, and Hospital, Dehradun.

The mission of obtaining NABH accreditation in healthcare at MRDC is to adhere to quality standards in all spheres of activities. Manav Rachna Dental College, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, organized a two-day Program on Implementation (POI) for the 3rd edition NABH Dental Healthcare Service Providers (DHSP) Accreditation Program on July 15th-16th, 2023, at MRDC.

The speakers talked about the Dental Facility Accreditation, which consists of 83 standards across 10 chapters that will be assessed during the final evaluation. There were 2 sessions on the first day. The first session was delivered by Dr. Himanshu Aeren, who introduced the audience to the NABH accreditation system, its structure, program and activities, accreditation and certificates, benefits of accreditation, and the concept of total quality management. He also explained in detail two chapters of NABH standards. The second session was delivered by Dr. Manu Rathi, who emphasized the importance of quality in healthcare and provided a detailed explanation of patients’ rights and infection prevention and control.

On day 2, both speakers discussed the remaining chapters in detail, with an emphasis on how to introduce quality in healthcare. The participants actively participated in all sessions, making it an interactive experience. At the end of the session, there was a question and answer session. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Ashish Singh, NABH Coordinator.

The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) focuses on patient safety and the quality of services provided by dental service providers in the ever-changing healthcare environment. The standards also sensitize healthcare workers and patients about their rights and responsibilities.

NABH is a board member of the International Society for Quality Healthcare (ISQua) and the Asian Society for Quality in Healthcare (ASQua).
