Expert Lecture on Energy Efficient Building Design

Department of Civil Engineering, FET, MRIIRS organized an expert lecture by Mr. U. S. Jadaon on “Energy Efficient Building Design”, recently for UG and PG students of the department.

Mr. Jadaon has 40+ years of experience and has served in renowned industries like Feder Lloyd, Kelvinator India, Pristolite of India Ltd, etc. to name a few. He shared his extensive industrial experience and introduced the concept of Green Buildings, the need for designing such buildings, key points to be taken care of i.e. use of energy-efficient & eco-friendly equipment’s, use of renewable energy, effective controls, building management system, efficient use of water, effective use of existing landscapes and adoption of cost-effective and environment-friendly technologies etc.

Students also learned that 50-60% of energy is consumed by HVAC. It’s the need of the hour to reduce energy consumption by employing innovative system design. He elaborated on the concept of thermal comforts and the significance of building orientation, architectural features and adoption of the sea-water cooling systems in developing green building design.

The speaker also discussed the benefits of such buildings i.e. 30-40% reduction in operation cost, health, and safety of occupants, enhanced occupant comforts, etc. Department of Civil Engineering
