Azaadi 70: Grand Celebration – 12th August 2016

Bringing the united spirit of the nation to reality, the students of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions from the Department of Students Welfare, held together an immensely vibrant, invigorating and in the most simplest but purest words, a beautiful grand celebration on the 12th of August 2016 in the A – Block Auditorium; thus adding fervor to the “Azaadi 70″ celebrations thereby capturing the true essence of patriotism and what independence justly stands for.

This day commenced by awakening the feel of living in the largest democracy by presenting every student, every faculty member, security guard and working member entering through the campus gates with an Independence day sticker which said with massive pride, ‘I am proud to be an Indian’. Furthermore, the dignitaries were welcomed in the auditorium with tilaks, depicting our culture and respect.

Dr. N.C Wadhwa, VC, MRIU; Wg. Cdr. P K Sinha, Director CRC; Ms. Gauri Bhasin, Head CDC and Prof I.K Kilam, Dean Students Welfare gave the event a divine start by lighting the lamp, following a stimulating address by Dr. N.C Wadhwa inspiring students to be proud of India as a growing country. Surely awe inspiring videos on what India essentially is capable of and has accomplished; sent a sensation of pride across the audience as a mutual feeling of delight was established amongst each one. Confining the insight of our nation a hindi poem by a 4th year MRU student Srishti Kalra pleased the minds of the audience. Mr. M. M. Kathuria, Trustee MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastav, VC MRU; Ms. Sangeeta Banga, DSW, MRU; Ms. Rakhi Pruthi, GM CRC, Team CDC and faculty members graced the occasion by their esteemed presence.

Performed by the Manav Rachna Dance troupe, one of the most beautiful forms of art, without a doubt, liberated enormous energy in all their three performances, bringing the audience to their own feet with their bracing talent and emotional approach. With ‘maula mere’ being the first song, depicting unity in diversity. ‘Abhi mujhme kahi’ being the second, giving honor and respect to the fearless and our real heroes, the Indian army, and lastly, arousing the audience by rising awareness and sensitizing everyone towards farmers in our country. All the dance performances were highly appreciated by all members present. Coming to the chief highlight of the day, the Nukkad Natak, performed skillfully, truly and very boldly by the Manav Rachna Theatrical Troupe, got every single young as well as experienced mind in the room, thinking ‘Kya hum Azaad hain’. The Fashion show by the Manav Rachna Fashionistas incarcerated the vibrant heritage of India. A surprise for the faculty was the ‘best dressed’ award which was presented to Ms. Gauri Bhasin by the students’ vote. Not to be forgotten, the winners from all the days of celebration from 9th to 11th August were awarded prizes by the dignitaries. The marvelous finale was brought to an end by a melodious performance by the Manav Rachna Music Group and the National Anthem with all reverence.
