This seminar aimed to explore the latest innovations and methodologies shaping modern education. Educators, researchers, and scholars from across Delhi NCR gathered to present ideas and insights, fostering a collaborative exchange on transformative educational practices.
Inaugural Address
The session was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Indira Dhull, Director, KIIT College of Education who emphasized the importance of innovative pedagogy, particularly in light of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dr. Dhull highlighted how NEP 2020 encourages educators to adopt creative, student-centered approaches that enhance critical thinking and adaptability. Her address set the tone for the seminar, underscoring the essential role of these forward-thinking methodologies in today’s classrooms.
Following the inaugural address, two distinguished keynote speakers shared their insights on the evolving landscape of education:
Dr. Saroj Yadav, Professor at DESS, NCERT: Dr. Yadav discussed the integration of innovative pedagogies that align with the NEP 2020’s vision for holistic and flexible education. She highlighted NCERT’s work in promoting frameworks that develop both cognitive and emotional competencies, supporting a well-rounded learning experience.
Ken Jarman, Principal of the Australian School shared an international perspective on personalized and student-centered learning, including the role of hands-on activities. He emphasized fostering creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability, which are essential in preparing students for a globalized world by citing various examples from science and mathematics widely implemented in real life classroom.
The seminar included 23 paper presentations from educators across Delhi NCR, covering various emerging pedagogical trends and were presented in three parallel technical sessions chaired by Dr. Anshu Radha Aggarwal, Principal, KIIT College of Education, Dr. Rachna Sharma, Associate Professor, KIIT College of Education and Prof.(Dr.) Rashee Singh respectively.
The presented papers emphasised on the following areas such as:
Art-Integrated Learning: Encouraging interdisciplinary learning through art to make concepts more relatable and engaging. Papers highlighted creative ways to use visual and performing arts in subjects like science, mathematics, and social studies, promoting experiential learning and cultural awareness.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Discussing inclusive frameworks that accommodate diverse learning styles and needs. Presenters explored strategies to ensure that every student, regardless of ability, can access and engage with the curriculum, aligning with NEP 2020's emphasis on equity in education.
Gamification: Examining the impact of game-based elements in enhancing motivation and engagement. Presentations focused on using point-based systems, quests, and interactive modules to make learning more appealing and promote retention, aligning with NEP’s focus on joyful and active learning experiences.
Other Emerging Trends: Participants presented various innovative methodologies such as project-based learning, experiential learning, and collaborative learning. These approaches, in line with NEP 2020, emphasize real-world applications, hands-on experiences, and teamwork skills, equipping students with skills relevant to the 21st century.
Each paper presentation was followed by a Q&A session, allowing for interactive discussions and valuable feedback from peers.
The seminar provided an invaluable platform for educators and scholars to engage with the transformative trends advocated by NEP 2020. By emphasizing innovative and inclusive pedagogical methods, the event underscored the collective commitment to advancing education in ways that meet the needs of all learners.
