Title: Role of Open Education Resources in ensuring Quality in Education with specific focus on MOOCs

School of Education and Humanities in collaboration with Office of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA), Manav Rachna University, organized two day workshop on the theme ‘Role of Open Education Resources in ensuring Quality in Education with specific focus on MOOCs’ on 25th and 26th November 2024 in I Block Auditorium . The event was organized as part of Quality Month Celebration at Manav Rachna University.  The workshop aimed at making the participants develop an insight into the world of Open Education Resources (OERs) and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) along with making them explore the concept of Instructional Designing and Creative Common Licensees. In addition, the workshop intended to orient the participants about Open Education for Better World Imitative (OE4BW) platform by UNESCO for developing OER. In total, there were 20 participants who attended the workshop. Participants included faculty members, research scholars and students associated with various departments of Manav Rachna University and also from outside institutes of higher education. Various themes included in the session include Introduction to the World of OERs, Instructional Designing and Four Quadrant Approach, Case Study of OE4BW and Exploration of CANVAS Platform for launching the MOOC. Dr. Rashee Singh, Head of the Dept. (Dept. of Education and Humanities) began the two day workshop by sharing her insights about the concept of OERs and its relevance in light of NEP 2020. Later Dr. Eram Aziz and Ms. Meenal Rawat, faculty members from the dept, elaborated upon their personal journey of developing MOOC at OE4BW platform by UNESCO. In the second session, Dr. Sonam Bansal, Associate Professor, Gurugram University further covered the theme of Instructional Designing and Four Quadrant Approach. She also provided hands on session on various AI based tools and digital platform which can be useful for the participants as relevant for developing MOOC. In the concluding session Dr. Savita Sharma, faculty member from the Dept. took an intensive session on OE4BW as a platform by UNESCO. She also discussed about the nitty-gritty of developing effective proposal at the aforesaid platform. Later Ms. Meenal Rawat took a real walk through of the CANVAS platform and its various features for launching the course. The program concluded with formal vote of thanks. Overall participants perceived the program to be of immense benefit for them as a very effective capacity building initiative in the pertinent areas of OERs and MOOCs development in context of the demand of the present times.
