Report of Industrial visit to Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.

An industrial visit to Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (Plot No. 1, Sector 3, IMT Manesar, Gurugram, Haryana 122050) was organized by the department on 30.08.2017 for 38 students of Automobile Engineering. Dr. Devendra Vashist & Mr. Ram Pravesh accompanied the students from gate no 4 of MRIU at 08:30 AM.

The visit was planned on the background of industrial exposure of an automobile manufacturing / assembly plant for Automobile Engineering students.

At the onset, the Ms Purnima Kaushik (Human Resource Manager) of the factory briefed students about the history of the company, its production capacity, marketing process, market share, work culture, corporate social responsibility activities undertaken, future expansion plans etc.

Later the students were taken to the production area in three groups. The experience of visualizing the product take its final form was truly fascinating for them. During the assembly line tour students observed how principles of management are applied in the organization, obtained information about the production process and viewed the various facets of a business organization and the importance of team work.

The plant visit was followed by an interaction with Technical expert Mr Rahul Verma (Section Manager quality feedback line 2&3 Vehicle quality) & senior official of HMSI wherein the student queries were well addressed. Few concepts and discussion like transition from BS-IV to BS-VI and Kaizen (Japanese techniques for continuous improvement) were also touched upon. The information shared and discussed during interactions gave the students useful insights into reality and give them better understanding of various concepts taught in class.

The team returned to campus at 02:30 PM on same day. Few snapshots of the visit along with the  list of students who visited HMSI.
