Industrial Visit of Civil Engineering students to LIG Housing Society, Gurugram

Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), Faridabad organized a one-day visit to LIG Housing Society, Gurugram, Haryana, for the students of B. Tech (Civil Engineering) – 2nd, 3rd and 4th Year recently.

An ambitious project of Pyramid Constructions under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the affordable housing (LIG houses) consists of 12 towers, Aanganwadi and a separate commercial place at sector 67A in Gurugram, Haryana.

At the site, students were attended by Mr. Raghunatha (AGM) & Mr. Sumit (DPM) who briefed them about the structural specifications of the housing project. The housing project consists of 12 towers, 14 floors per tower consisting of 8 flats per floor and terrace space. It houses separate irrigation and firefighting pipes. The project supports green practices like using concrete made of fly ash. It uses Mivan Construction method. Mivan Technology, a fast-paced technology that ensures the structure’s endurance while also lowering building costs. This technology has the potential to address the country’s housing shortage.

Students had a great learning experience, wherein they were able to relate their theoretical knowledge with the practical execution. They were also briefed about various challenges faced during the course of its construction. The Q/A session was organized by M/s Pyramid Infrastructure so as to clear the queries of the students related to the on–field application of various disciplines of Civil Engineering. The Industrial visit was concluded by giving “Vote of Thanks” to Mr. Raghunatha (AGM) & Mr. Sumit (DPM) by Mr. Yaman Hooda, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, FET, MRIIRS.
