Welcome to the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, MRIIRS. Established in 2007, our department is a unique amalgamation of Oral Medicine and Radiology, serving as a vital bridge between dentistry and medicine.
As specialists in the field, we focus on comprehensive care, where seemingly isolated symptoms within the mouth can often signify broader health concerns. Our goal is to identify such conditions and offer the most suitable diagnostic examinations and inquiries.
Oral Medicine & Radiology surpasses being solely a clinical field; it serves as a route to comprehending and tackling persistent ailments that can profoundly affect a patient's well-being, both physically and emotionally. We collaborate within a multidisciplinary patient care team, recognizing that some conditions extend beyond the mouth and require holistic management.

- Orofacial pain, including temporomandibular disorders (TMD)
- Mucosal diseases
- Oral cancer and its therapy-related complications
- Specialized dental care for patients with disabilities
- Neurosensory and motor disorders
- Salivary gland dysfunction
- Oral manifestations of systemic illnesses
- Advanced craniofacial imaging and diagnostics
The realm of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, within our department, involves the acquisition and interpretation of radiographic imaging studies essential for diagnosing and guiding treatment for conditions affecting the maxillofacial region. Our specialized training encompasses a comprehensive three-year course recognized by the Dental Council of India, equipping us with the skills needed for conventional and advanced maxillofacial imaging techniques, including Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT).
