About Department

The speciality of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in the context of its scope, has seen rapid expansion over the past few decades. From being a speciality responsible for tooth extractions and minor dentoalveolar surgical procedures, it now incorporates within its scope diverse sub-specialities as:

  • Maxillofacial trauma
  • Maxillofacial benign and malignant pathology
  • Temporomandibular joints
  • Facial deformities and aesthetic facial surgery
  • Disorders of the salivary glands
  • Infections around the jaws and in the neck
  • Evaluation, planning, and placement of dental implants and surgical procedures to improve the jaw structure to receive artificial teeth, including dental implants

At Manav Rachna, we have a team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons from diverse training backgrounds who are experts in different subspecialties and work together for the benefit of our patients. We are also responsible for the didactic and clinical training of undergraduate dental students in the areas of local anesthesia, planning and execution of tooth extractions and minor oral surgery procedures in the out-patient setting, and understanding their role in diagnosis and management of more complex oral surgical problems. We are fully committed to ensuring the best possible patient care, training of undergraduate students and fulfilling our responsibility to the university, the community and our profession.
