Cultivating Peace, Nurturing Sustainability

Manav Rachna Centre for Peace and Sustainability (MRCPS), founded on October 2, 2019, embodies Dr. O.P. Bhalla’s vision of integrating knowledge, ethics, and values to foster peace and sustainability. A hub for research, training, and policy-making, it empowers youth to drive impactful change.

Chaired by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Karan Singh, its advisory board includes distinguished leaders. MRCPS operates through five verticals—Parashakti, Prakarsh, Sahritha, Samriddha, and Sadbhav—aligned with six SDGs.

Collaborating with UNESCO-MGIEP and IPRA, it leads projects like Project Pahal, Wall of Peace, and Kuch Kahna Hai. Recognised with WCDM DRR and Institutions of Happiness awards, MRCPS continues to inspire transformative initiatives.

Mision

To study, educate, conduct training, and promote research in all spheres of Peace & Sustainability. To propose and promote creative and new approaches towards ensuring Sustainable Development and Peace at local, national and global levels.

Our Verticals

Prakash

Dedicated to SDG 4, Prakarsh promotes inclusive, high-quality education through impactful initiatives. The Pehel Project provides education to underprivileged children, while SustainEd spreads awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through community-driven activities, competitions, and rally drives. By fostering educational equity and advocating for lifelong learning, Prakarsh empowers individuals with knowledge and skills, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive future for all.

Parashakti

Aligned with SDG 5, Parashakti champions gender equality and women's empowerment through education and advocacy. Initiatives include Workplace Harassment Awareness, Self-Defense Workshops, and Good Touch Bad Touch sessions for children. Parashakti also conducts Menstrual Hygiene Awareness programs in villages, fostering a society where women and girls can thrive without discrimination. Through these efforts, Parashakti continues to break barriers and create equal opportunities for all.

Sahrita

Committed to SDGs 6, 7, and 13, Sahrita drives environmental sustainability through impactful initiatives. Programs like Sapling Adoption, Water-Saving Campaigns, and Plantation Drives encourage community participation in conservation efforts. Engaging activities, including Youth Marches for the Environment and SDG awareness sessions, inspire responsible action for climate resilience. By promoting clean energy, sustainable water management, and climate action, Sahrita envisions a greener, healthier planet.

Samriddha

Advancing SDG 8, Samriddha fosters economic growth and entrepreneurship through workshops, competitions, and skill-building programs. It hosts the National Conference on Startups, Financial Market Training, and Inclusive Entrepreneurship Programs, equipping individuals with the tools to succeed. By supporting startups, financial security awareness, and sustainable business development, Samriddha empowers communities, creating pathways for inclusive and sustainable economic progress.

Sadhav

Rooted in SDG 16, Sadbhav promotes peace, justice, and strong institutions through education and awareness. Initiatives such as the Global Leadership Conference, Meditation at Schools, and Peace Training Programs cultivate mindfulness and unity. Activities like Sustainathon and Nature Walks further encourage a harmonious society. By fostering dialogue and emotional well-being, Sadbhav strengthens the foundation for a just and peaceful world.

Our Awards & Recognitions

DRR Award

Manav Rachna University received WCDM DRR Awards for the work carried out by the Centre for Peace and Sustainability during COVID 19 pandemic for mitigating its impact. The award was given by the Hon’ble Shri G Kishan Reddy Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India and received by Prof. I K Bhat Vice Chancellor of Manav Rachna University, at a function held in India International Centre (IIC) on 22nd June 2022.

Happiness Index

Manav Rachna University has received the ‘Institutions of Happiness’ award for fostering happiness in the academic environment at the QS I-Gauge Academic Excellence Conclave held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. A total of 100 Institutions from Pan India participated in this survey and only 33 qualified for the criteria to receive the ‘Institutions of Happiness’ award. UK based QS, Quacquarelli Symonds’ Indian subsidiary, QS I-GAUGE announced India’s happiest educational institutions after a rigorous assessment exercise which began in December last year in association with industry body ASSOCHAM.

Manav Rachna University has received the ‘Institutions of Happiness’ award for fostering happiness in the academic environment at the QS I-Gauge Academic Excellence Conclave 2024 held at the The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore.

Projects

PEHEL

Manav Rachna University’s Pehel initiative advances SDG 4 by providing quality education to underserved students. Over eight months, 200 volunteers mentored children, bridging learning gaps and fostering empowerment, reinforcing MRU’s commitment to education and social equity.

KUCH KEHNA HAI - POCSO AWARENESS

MRU’s Kuch Kehna Hai initiative educates children (ages 4–9) on good touch and bad touch, raising awareness about the POCSO Act. Led by the Centre for Peace and Sustainability, it empowers children with safety knowledge, promoting gender equality and child protection.

ESDP: SUSTAIN-ED

SustainEd empowers students to champion sustainability through SDG-aligned education. Courses like Essentials for Sustainability foster community engagement through webinars, expert sessions, and grassroots activities, equipping youth to drive sustainable change beyond academia.

ANG: Adopt, Nurture, Grow

MRCMPP’s ANG project encourages students to adopt and nurture a plant sapling at home, fostering environmental responsibility. This simple yet impactful initiative strengthens the connection between youth and nature, promoting a culture of sustainability.

SECOND STITCH

The Second Stitch project by MRU repurposes old denim into eco-friendly bags, reducing textile waste. This sustainable initiative promotes recycling and environmental consciousness, inspiring students to embrace creative, zero-waste solutions.

REVIVING PAPERS

MRU’s Reviving Papers initiative transforms discarded paper into vibrant handmade sheets. This student-led sustainability project fosters creativity, minimizes waste, and encourages an eco-conscious mindset, making sustainability a hands-on learning experience.
