World No Tobacco Day 2019

Manav Rachna Dental College has been observing World No-tobacco day since 2008. Keeping up with the same, this year’s events for increasing tobacco cessation awareness are being conducted by the Department of Public Health Dentistry at both intra-collegiate as well as community level.  Intra-collegiate events held at MRDC today comprised poster making competition and smokeless tobacco platter competition.

A poster painting competition named ‘Brush Tobacco Out’ was conducted at the reception area of MRDC in order to spread the awareness among students about effects of tobacco and at the same time bring out their creativity to help put a positive impact on the society through it. The theme of the competition was ‘Smoke Free World’. A total 8 teams from MRDC including faculty, post graduate and undergraduate students participated in the competition.

Another event, tobacco detox platter was conducted at conference room, MRDC. The competition aimed at making the student aware of intricate relationship between the food that we eat and how it helps in detoxifying the body and helping it return to normal condition after tobacco cessation.  Both the programs were appreciated by the participants and proved to be effective in integrating social dimensions of health into extra-curricular activities.
