Workshop on Accent, Intonation & Personality Grooming by Ms Sabira Merchant

The Department of Humanities and Language, MRU organised a Workshop on “Role Of Accent, Intonation and Personality Grooming in Professional Life”. The renowned accent and personality grooming expert Ms. Sabira Merchant conducted the workshop recently.

The objective of the workshop was to apprise participants the various aspects of accent which included speed, volume, clarity, enunciation, pronunciation, and use of articles among many others. She said, “Your tone should always be well-modulated”. Body language and vocabulary were some of the aspects she touched upon. She opined that one can develop vocabulary by correct practice.

Various activities were conducted to boost the confidence of the participants and specifically bring out some of the accent and language issues to the limelight. Moreover, she also talked about ‘Global Corporate Dressing’ which kept everyone intact.

The programme commenced by giving memento to Ms Sabira Merchant by Prof. Meenakshi S Khurana, PVC, MRU; Prof Sangeeta Banga, Dean Academics, MRU; Prof Parul Jhanjharia, Dean Management & Humanities, MRU; Prof Jaideep Singh, Dean Industry Interaction & HoD, Humanities & Language Department, MRU; and Prof BM Bahal, Dean Research & Dean Applied Sciences.

The participants gave very positive and encouraging feedback regarding the workshop. It was a very successful initiative taken by Department of Humanities to improve the accent, pronunciation, intonation and to groom the personality of the MRU faculty members.
