Manav Rachna International University organized a Workshop on MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). The workshop was conducted by Dr. Vimal Rarh along with Prof. (Dr.) N K Chadha. Dr. Vimal, is a senior Chemistry Faculty at SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi University. Dr Rarh is a leading women edupreneur in the field of e-learning at National level. She is also managing two centres as Joint Director, Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre of MHRD, Govt of India.
The workshop was attended by deans, heads and senior faculty members of various departments. The program was to build awareness about the SWAYAM portal. SWAYAM is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.
Dr. N C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU spoke on digitalization of education and it’s growing importance. He emphasized on the requirement of incorporating the MOOCs in our curriculum for providing any-time learning platform for students.
