Women Empowerment : 5th-6th Oct 2015

Department of Students Welfare, MRIU organized a series of events under Manav Rachna National Service Scheme in the campus on the topic ‘Women Empowerment’ in order to create social awareness among students on the issue of women empowerment. As a part of the event series, a Poster making competition was held on 5th October 2015 in AT 15-16 in which 30 students participated. The theme of the competition was ‘women empowerment. Dr.S.K.Chakravarti, Director Research and Publications – MRIU was the judge forthe event and declared the result as Sheetal (1st sem BSc(N&D),FPA) as winner and Bharti Gupta (2nd CSE,FET) as runnerup. On the same day a Group Discussion was held in AT 15-16 . The event saw participation of 22 students. Participants took keen interest in the topics given which were ‘Belief in the inherit superiority of males’ and ‘Honor Killing’. Seven students were selected for the next and final level. Topic given to the finalist was ‘Women trafficking’. Ms.Gauri Bhasin, Head CDC graced the event by her presence as a judge and declared Siddharth Solanki (5th Sem Mech-B.Tech) and Sanchit Sood (1st Sem-Biotech,FET) as winners.
On 6th Oct 2015 closing ceremony was organized in T Block Seminar hall from 11:30 onwards. Raghu Verma (1st Sem CSE-FET) & Medhavi Ahuja (1st Sem Eng (H) FCBS) welcomed the audience and the event started with blessings of Prof.I.K.Kilam, Dean Students Welfare. Diksha Sangwan(1st Sem EEE-FET) recited a very inspiring yet touching poem describing the problems and issues a woman has to face. Ankita Shoken (1st Sem CSE-FET) presented a similar theme through her dance performance. Nukkad Natak was a must to spread harsh reality of a 21st Century Woman which was presented by Manav Rachna Theatrical Troupe. Winners of all the events were awarded trophies by Prof.I.K.Kilam, Dean Stduents Welfare. The ceremony concluded by a Dance performance by Manav Rachna Dance Troupe and patriotic medley songs sung by Manav Rachna Music Group.
All in all, the entire event by the ‘NSS’ group created a full awareness on women empowerment related issues.
