Webinar – cum – Expert Talk on Glass as a Building and Construction Material

Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), MRIIRS in association with Confederation of Construction Products and Services (CCPS) organized a Webinar – cum – Expert Talk on Glass as a Building and Construction Material. 

The speakers of the event were Mr. Pramit Patel (Project Sales Manager, Sisecam Flat Glass, India) and Mr. Rishabh Maggirwar (Veltrotech, Saint Gobain). Mr. Pramit Patel is a manager with over 18+ years of professional experience.

The second speaker of the event was Mr. Rishabh Maggirwar. Mr. Maggirwar is a Technical Engineer at Vetrotech Saint-Gobain who takes care of Performance testing of Fire Resistant and Bullet Resistant Safety Glasses. 

The Expert Talk was started by giving a formal Inaugural by Mr. Yaman Hooda, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. Mr. Patel started his talk by giving a brief introduction to how glass can be used as a construction material. He explained how glass can be used as a construction material and its increasing trend to use glass as a façade and cladding material. He also explained the visibility percentage of glass in all forms of the buildings.

The first speaker of the event was Mr. Rishabh Maggirwar. Mr. Maggirwar covered an interesting topic of fire-resistant glass. He started his talk explaining the importance of fire – resistant properties of glass, followed by some of the tests they conducted in the laboratory to check the same. He also covered the guidelines that included the American and European Codal Provisions, followed by the intake and modification in NBC and Indian Codal Provisions.
