Students of M.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics with faculty members, Ms.Vandana Garg and Ms. Divya Puri visited PHFI Research Lab, Gurugram recently.
During the visit, students got an overview of bio-repository unit (storage of 55,000 samples at -80°C), the Biochemistry and Genetic lab. They were briefed about all the lab amenities, biochemical and genetic tests and procedures undertaken as a part of research studies. They also got to learn about the procedures of sample collection (blood, urine, saliva) processing and sample analysis across various parameters (i.e. lipid profile, inflammatory markers and biomarkers, etc).
The visit proved to be an insight about the interdisciplinary approach of public health aspects for health promotion. It was a great learning experience to relate theoretical knowledge of various epidemiological study designs with the ongoing research projects at PHFI.
